The Community for Positive Aging

On Saturday, September 19th Senior Day coupons will be available at the Information Booth and Community Booths at the Hollywood Farmers Market - Portland, Oregon

All shoppers aged 55+ will receive coupons for $1 off every $4 purchase (25% off). There is no limit on coupons used and they are only valid on 9/19. The Rose City Banjoliers will be bringing the energy by playing old-time favorites from 10-12:30!

Community for Positive Aging will be onsite as one of the community partner tables for Senior Day so please stop by to say hello.

We are grateful to the Hollywood Farmers Market and the generous supporters who are underwriting the cost of this special day that helps make fresh, locally grown food more accessible to older adults in our community.

Temps are cooling, leaves are starting to change, and is that pumpkin we smell? Sure, these are signs of autumn, but they are also signs of respiratory illness season! 🤧

It's not too early to think about vaccines. We are hosting our first vaccine clinic of the season on Sat. Oct. 10 at our Positive Aging Health and Wellness Fair! Our friends at Lecare Pharmacy are hosting a FREE vaccine clinic from 12:30pm - 2:30pm. No registration is needed, walk-ins are welcome! Lecare will provide flu and COVID vaccines.

‼ REMINDER ‼ The Center will be closed tomorrow, Sep. 11. We are packing up and preparing to temporarily relocate to Rose City Park Presbyterian Church (RCPPC) while our building undergoes exciting renovations.

We will reopen at RCPPC (1907 NE 45th Ave) at 8:30am on Monday, Sep. 14. See you there!

All CfPA offices, including the Hollywood Senior Center will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.

We will reopen on Tuesday, Sep. 8.

August Asian Program Highlights! / 八月份亞洲項目活動分享！

It has been a busy and meaningful month for our Asian Program! Our seniors enjoyed a special U-Pick farm outing to The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island , made possible through our partnership with Ride Connection, which provided the shuttle and a wonderful driver. It was more than a farm trip—it was a wonderful opportunity for our seniors from four low-income housing communities to get outdoors, socialize, and enjoy time together.

Our Asian Food Pantry also continues to be supported by amazing community partners, including Kindness Farm, Portland Fruit Tree Project, Lan Su Chinese Garden, and Mora Mora Farm, who generously donate fresh fruits and culturally specific vegetables. We also received separate donations and delivery to 2 of our senior buildings through Backyard Garden Project.

We are incredibly grateful for our community partners and dedicated volunteers who make this work possible. Thank you for helping us nourish not only our seniors, but also their sense of connection and belonging. 💕 We welcome more community partners, donors, and volunteers to join us!

Our Senior Center is Temporarily Moving — Just Around the Corner!

From September 14 - October 9 the Community for Positive Aging will temporarily relocate to Rose City Park Presbyterian Church at 1907 NE 45th Ave, just a few blocks from our current Center, while our building undergoes exciting energy-efficiency upgrades.

Thanks to a grant from the Portland Clean Energy Fund, we're investing in improvements that will make our building more resilient including new windows and solar panels, that will help us better serve older adults for years to come.

Most programming will continue!

Last Friday, residents of Julia West and Alder House came together to celebrate National Night Out! ☀️

CfPA staff and volunteers served BBQ, a DJ kept the music going and more than 120 residents joined the fun. The event was full of joy, community, and connection.
