There is a version of you that the mirror does not see.

It shows a surface, a moment, an angle. It misses what actually comes through when you’re with other people — seeing a friend you haven’t seen in a while, falling into easy conversation, laughing at something that shouldn’t be that funny.

And yet the mirror is often where people go to decide how they feel about themselves. One reflection shapes a feeling. That feeling shapes a choice. That choice shapes a relationship with food, with your body, with yourself.

It measures one frame of a very long film.

That’s the work.

Noah Kahan doesn’t have the answers.

He just makes it safer to ask the questions and that matters just as much.

So much of what keeps people stuck isn’t the struggle itself, it’s the silence around it. The sense that what you’re carrying is too strange, too shameful, or too complicated to say out loud. When someone with that kind of reach is openly imperfect and human, it shifts something. Not for everyone, but for the person who needed one small signal that it was okay to speak up — it can be everything.

The hardest part is rarely what comes after someone finally talks, it’s getting to the talking. If his music or his story has made that easier for you, I’d say that’s worth everything.

Over 25 years of speaking with women who are convinced they just need more willpower. They don’t and they never did. The hunger was always trying to tell them something — we just taught them to treat it like the enemy.

There’s a phase of recovery where things are technically better…

…but your brain is still tracking everything.

What you ate.
What you can have later.
How to make it all feel “okay.”

So it doesn’t feel easier. Just different.

That middle space is real.

And you’re not behind if you’re still there.
