Meet Montero, Brennan’s curious cat, who recently decided the silicone part of a bike light looked like a snack. What started as “just one odd thing” turned into a real surprise when Montero kindly produced both the bike-light pieces and a missing game controller stick cover.
Trying to make a cat vomit is unpredictable (and definitely not a DIY project), but thankfully this story had a happy ending.
In the photo, you’ll spot Montero looking proud of his digestive discoveries and Brennan ducking in mild shame behind their mischievous feline.
With the holidays approaching, consider this a friendly PSA: cats are magnetically drawn to small, stringy, and shiny things. Common culprits include:
🐾Ribbon and tinsel
🐾String, thread, and yarn
🐾Feathers and toy parts
🐾Rubber bands, silicone, and small plastic bits
🐾Packaging materials and holiday décor
Keep these items out of reach to prevent dangerous (and expensive!) foreign body adventures.
Here’s to keeping all our curious kitties safe and out of trouble this holiday season!

Sweetest Samwich was in recently for a dental procedure and a mass removal. Our team made sure he got the full VIP treatment, from a thorough post-op clean-up to a stylish new comb-over where the mass was removed. This is what making a difference (and spreading a little love) looks like and we can’t wait to see him back for his suture removal 💛🐾

Let’s get to know Dr. Anya Britvan featured here with her sweet pup Frida:
• What inspired you to become a veterinarian? My love of animals & science from a young age
• What is one piece of advice you wish all pet owners knew? Daily tooth brushing can absolutely reduce the progression and severity of periodontal disease in your pet! Dental disease is the most commonly diagnosed disease in companion animals.
• What is your guilty pleasure snack? Tortilla chips & hummus
• What is a hobby or activity that makes you happiest? Camping and rock climbing with my husband and our pup!
• If you could be any animal for a day, which would you choose and why? A cat, so I could lay around all day guilt-free.
• What is something quirky about you that most people don’t know? I am obsessed with nail polish.

⚠️ Leptospirosis Alert for Oregon Dogs
Record numbers of sea lions along the California and Oregon coasts are sick with leptospirosis, a bacterial disease that can also infect dogs and humans.
Lepto spreads through contaminated water, soil, or wildlife urine, so even city dogs are at risk, not just those who hike or swim.
At Pearl Animal Hospital, we recommend the Lepto vaccine as a core vaccine for all dogs. It is safe, effective, and the best protection against a disease that can cause kidney and liver failure.
Safety Tips:
-Keep dogs leashed and away from sea lions or other marine mammals on the beach.
-Do not allow dogs to drink or swim in ocean water or tide pools where sick or dead sea lions may have been present.
-Wash your hands and rinse dogs thoroughly if they come into contact with beach areas frequented by sea lions.
-Talk to your veterinarian about the leptospirosis vaccine for your dog, which can help reduce the risk of infection.
Keep your dog protected and schedule their Lepto vaccine today if they are not protected ❤️
