This is a painting of a lady. It’s based on a flash design by Amund Dietzel. I had fun painting it. Sometimes a thing is just the thing. Does it have to be more than that? Sometimes it is more than that, and that’s ok. But I think it’s ok if it’s just the thing that it is too.

I did a painting of a snake. Specifically a snakes head. I like images of animal heads: snakes, eagles, panthers, tigers, bears, whatever. I don’t know why, but I think it has something to do with the zoomed in focus, the clarity, the emotion. I used acrylic inks and some discarded packaging materials. I made it with my hands. I like that it isn’t perfect.

You know that restless feeling you get in your bones, where you can’t help but want to move; to try and shake off the slime and sludge of existence; but simultaneously your body resists. Momentum seems like a dream you had in another life. It’s not laziness, it’s more like the idea of starting something (anything) is beyond the scope of sanity or logic. It’s unreal. I’ve been feeling that way a lot. So I’m painting these panthers. Or eagles. Or whatever iconic, traditional themed tattoo symbol grabs my attention in the moment. It’s a way to unthink my way and through the sticky moments. I want to be unstuck.
