Hi friends,

I’m Minh Nguyen — the baker and creative behind and now Dream Cakes 🤍

2026 marks 14 years of my baking journey. What started as a hobby — a way to de-stress and escape a mentally draining corporate job fresh out of college — somehow became my life’s work.

Year after year, baking has pushed me past my limits in ways I never imagined. From a tiny farmers market stall in North Dakota, to working in a local cake shop in Portland. From quitting my bank job to diving headfirst into baking, to losing work and surviving COVID by baking anyway. From a tiny apartment kitchen, to a storefront in Bethany Village, and now a private cake studio.

It hasn’t been linear. It hasn’t been easy. But it has been full of growth, resilience, and so much gratitude. I’m thankful and excited for this new chapter with Dream Cakes-the chapter about artistry, storytelling, and cakes that feel personal and meaningful. It’s about everything I’ve learned, refined, and dreamed of over the last decade, poured into each design.

Hi friends,

It’s Minh—the new owner of Dream Cakes. A proper introduction post is coming soon, I promise. But on this last day of 2025, I wanted to take a moment to share a few thoughts.

Chef Thomas Keller once said, “We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us.” That quote really resonates with me, especially after spending this past summer working in the same kitchen as . By taking over Dream Cakes, I know I’m standing on the shoulders of a giant.

There’s a reason Dream Cakes is the respected, long-standing business it is today. Judy built it. Jojo grew and nurtured it. And now, I’m lucky enough to help carry that legacy forward.

I know this next chapter will come with challenges, but I’m filled with excitement and hope for what’s ahead—especially knowing I won’t be doing it alone. The wedding industry is full of wonderful, supportive, and hardworking people, and I’m incredibly thankful for the continued encouragement and referrals you shared during our transition months.
To my amazing supporters from _bakery, I’m forever grateful for your unwavering support. You are the reason I was given the opportunity to own the business of my dreams.
