This decision will have a devastating impact on abortion seekers in Maine - particularly those of us who live in the most rural areas. Currently about 27% of Mainers access medication abortion via telehealth.

Let's be clear: this is not about safety, it is about control. Mifepristone is a safe medication that has been used by millions of people for over two decades.

We are here to help Mainers get the care they need: we can cover the cost of abortion care, help with transportation (gas or volunteer rides), book hotels stays and help with additional associated cost.

Court restricts abortion access across the US by blocking the mailing of mifepristone A federal appeals court has restricted access to one of the most common means of abortion in the U.S. by blocking the mailing of mifepristone.

🌻In 2025, we distributed $162,660 in abortion funding, serving 454 people. The average amount of support needed was $358 per person.

Step 3: You will be prompted to either “sign in” or “create an account.” If you participated in Fund-a-thon last year, you will already have an account, and you can sign in. If you are new this year, you will need to create an account!

Step 4: Now, you get to create your own fundraising page. Here is your chance to get creative. You can upload a picture and describe why funding abortion care is important to you!

Step 5: Use the “share” feature in the top right to share your fundraiser with friends, co-workers, neighbors, and/or family. You can invite them to donate and cheer for you on April 24th!

Anyone who donates will get a ticket. You will receive a donation confirmation with a link to get the ticket.

SAFE Maine is hiring our second position, a Program Director. This position oversees SAFE Maine’s logistical and funding support services, manages the volunteer driver network, supervises volunteers and interns, and contributes to outreach and communications efforts. This role works closely with the Executive Director, clinical partners, and the Board of Directors to ensure compassionate, efficient, and mission-aligned program delivery.

📦We distributed 1500 reproductive wellness kits to community-based organizations and businesses.
✨We proudly funded over 350 abortions, totalling over $135,000.
🔮Additionally, we created our first strategic plan outlining our goals for the next three years.
