A message from our Executive Director, Adina Bercowicz, MPH:
URGENT: 3 days left in national voting (and my first time asking for your vote).
I’m stepping out of my usual routine today with an urgent request. My 3-minute short film, Emerging from the Abyss, is competing in the national HHS LymeX Healthathon—and public voting ends in 72 hours.
This is the very first time I am reaching out to ask for your vote. Between managing my own health and navigating limited energy while our team works non-stop on our fall youth programs, I haven't had the bandwidth until right now to make this push.
If I’m being candid, I really dislike popularity contests. I believe public health solutions should win on merit and impact alone. But to secure national visibility and funding for LymeTV, we have to follow the Healthathon rules—and right now, we need our supporters to step up.
Emerging from the Abyss captures my personal journey through severe tick-borne illness and why LymeTV fights so hard for health equity and early prevention. I urge you to take 3 minutes to watch it.

LymeTV & the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine () are teaming up to premiere the brand-new Tick JEDI™ Safari Map—an interactive outdoor scavenger hunt designed to make tick safety fun, empowering, & easy for the whole family!
Ticks live in nature, but knowledge is your superpower. Join us for a fun-filled launch event where kids can explore the museum grounds, learn the safe zones, & complete their Tick JEDI training mission!

About 75% of the people who get Lyme disease, contract it in their own yards during routine activities like gardening, playing, or relaxing outside?
Ticks are widely associated with deep woods, but they actually thrive in cool, shady, and humid environments, often lurking in the perimeter of your yard where grass meets the woods, in leaf litter, ground cover, and shrubs.
If you do get a tick bite, free tick testing is available for Pennsylvania residents through the Tick Research Lab of Pennsylvania. The lab tests ticks for diseases such as Lyme, anaplasmosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

When a tick attaches, the clock starts immediately; certain pathogens can be transmitted within minutes. Implementing a daily prevention routine is the single most effective way to protect yourself & reduce the risk of tick-borne illness.
It can take minutes to days for an infected tick to pass a germ to you after biting! Make sure to remove ticks as soon as possible with frequent tick checks. For more information on tick bite prevention, visit www.maine.gov/dhhs/vectorborne.
