On , we recognize and celebrate the generations who have shaped our communities through their knowledge, experience and lasting contributions. At Housecall Providers, it is our privilege to serve older adults and their families with compassion and dignity, supporting their health, comfort, and quality of life every day.

A heartfelt thank you to Anna Xu, The Community for Positive Aging's Asian Programs Manager, for joining our recent all-staff meeting and sharing about CfPA's incredible impact.

We learned about programs supporting older adults and low-income residents, essential support services, volunteer opportunities, and their Asian programs, including the Asian Food Pantry which was the first food pantry in Oregon specifically serving low-income Asian American seniors.

We appreciate Anna's partnership and the important work CfPA is doing to foster a healthier, more inclusive and connected community for older adults.

When Dede Montgomery reached out to Housecall Providers Hospice, she knew she wanted to volunteer. What she didn't know was that one patient would come to mean so much to her. Read about Dede and Veteran hospice patient John Roberts' unexpected friendship, formed through the Library of Congress Veterans History Project – a national effort to preserve the personal stories of U.S. Veterans.

We accomplished so much at Housecall Providers' volunteer event with our community partner, H.O.P.E. (Honoring Our Precious Elders). Along with H.O.P.E.’s ED Hen Truong, we transformed the yard of an elder in our community. Blackberry bushes, nightshade and stickers were no match for our team as we brought the backyard back to life.

H.O.P.E.'s mission is to provide free, year-round yard maintenance for seniors with fixed incomes and limited physical capabilities, helping them maintain peace of mind, stay connected to their communities and age in place safely and independently.

We look forward to tackling another project together soon! 🍃

So wonderful to join Housecall Providers volunteer Wendy Usher at her beautiful home for a summer gathering of community members who support individuals at the end of life.

The afternoon also brought together pioneers of Oregon's Death with Dignity movement, including Dr. Peter Reagan, who wrote Oregon's, and the nation's, first Medical Aid in Dying prescription in 1998, along with several individuals who helped craft what became the nation's first Death with Dignity Act.

We were also honored to be in the company of former Gov. Barbara Roberts, who publicly championed and endorsed the Act in 1994. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with those whose vision and advocacy helped shape compassionate end-of-life care in Oregon.

This National Nursing Assistants Week, we celebrate the hard work and heart of our incredible CNA team at Housecall Providers Hospice. From Hoyer lift and gait belt trainings to safe patient transfers, caring for bedbound patients and tackling difficult wound and oral care – you are the experts. You go above and beyond every day, whether it’s adding a little glam for a birthday celebration or helping a resident when their car breaks down. Above all, you are welcomed into life’s most sacred spaces. Thank you for leading with compassion, respect and kindness every day. We are so grateful for all that you do. 💙

Housecall Providers Hospice was honored to be a sponsor of the 4th annual Southern Oregon Friends of Hospice June in Bloom garden party and fundraiser for Celia's House in Holmes Park, a nonprofit residence for end-of-life care.
