Congratulates Marissa Evans for meriting a grant in our spring round of funding for her inspiring work in biomythography

Congratulations to the Sacred Door Trail project, who won a Spring '12 Moonifest Grant for funding the making of trail maps for this 165-mile interfaith pilgrimage trail loop... in their own words: "The Sacred door trail is a 165-mile interfaith pilgrimage trail loop in western MT
dedicated to spiritual unity, peace and our connection to Earth and each other. The
trail is a shared sacred path, shared by as many people, faiths and indigenous
cultures that care to support such a vision. The trail also serves to reconnect
people to the original church, the original temple---Mother Earth. In December of
2011 National Geographic devoted an entire special edition to pilgrimage trails
and sacred sites around the world (http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/sacred-
journeys). However, not one was an interfaith trail or shared sacred site. This is the
niche the SDT will fill not only in America but around the world.

The opening ceremonies for the trail will be held July 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2012. We
will have participants from many different faiths and indigenous traditions gathered
to offer their own blessings to establish the land and trail as a shared sacred space.

The Sacredness of the trail and land in part will come from the blessing offered to
the land but will also come in part from the people who come to hike the trail from
a sacred place in themselves. They will give their own sacred energy to the land,
charging it, and in the spirit of reciprocity the land will offer back an experience of
healing and connection for the pilgrim or seeker. The more people that interact
with the trail from a sacred place in them selves the more sacred the land will
become. Just like when one meditates in a room, the more they practice in that
space, the stronger that space becomes.

As war, greed, and environmental, political, and religious battles continue to divide
us, degrading the human spirit, and placing fear and division into the collective
consciousness of humanity, the Sacred Door Trail seeks to imprint the power of
spirit, unity, forgiveness, and love into our collective consciousness. It celebrates
our rich spiritual diversity as humans ...."
