“Paul Poiret: Fashion is a Feast” at MAD (the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris) celebrates the revolutionary couturier and creator known for liberating the female body from the corset. Poiret began his own fashion house in 1903, defined by an entirely new silhouette and a female form in motion. A darling of the cultured Parisian crowd, he was known as a mentor and supporter of some of the most cutting-edge artists in his era. Poiret’s luxurious parties cemented his legacy and the eventual financial breakdown of his multidisciplinary fashion house.
