Check out this great event with award-winning comics writer Mark Russell! Plus it's a fund-raiser for NWMOCA's summer grade school literacy classes!
Tix via the link in our bio to this fun event!: GLAAD, Eisner, and Ringo award-winning asks, “Why comics?”
• Why are comics still an important medium in the age of streaming services, social media, and A.I.?
• Why do comics give creators the chance to tell stories they couldn't in other media?
• Why are comics not only a vital part of our creative past, but our future as well?
This presentation and discussion is hosted by the Wacom Experience Center on June 28 from 7-9 pm.
After the presentation, stay for a Q&A and socializing with Mark and the other attendees!

Okay friends... we've got some big news.
After 17 years of owning and operating Bridge City Comics, I've decided to sell the shop to Donna (our manager). She's been with us for 8 years and is well-versed in the day-to-day operations so there won't be many changes on that front. At least not right away!
Donna will be changing the name of the shop to Rose City Comics which I think is a pretty good name! If you're a subscription box customer, everything will remain the same as far as your subscriptions and orders go. Same goes for special orders, store credit and gift certificates (Donna will honor BCC gift certificates though June of 2023 so make sure to use them up) . I'll still be around to help Donna navigate owning a comic book shop (and I'm still going to be buying comics from her!) so you won't be rid of me that easily! :)
The last day of operations for Bridge City Comics will be Tuesday, May 31. The doors will reopen for business at 11am on Wednesday, June 1 with Donna at the helm of Rose City Comics, ready to go with new comics and graphic novels on the shelves! She's excited to continue the legacy of the shop being a place that offers a warm welcome to both newcomers and old timers alike!
Please visit and bookmark the Rose City Comics website:

And feel free to ask me or Donna any questions when you see us.
It's been an honor and pleasure to serve the Portland comics community these past 17 years and I can't wait to see what happens in the secondary mutation for the shop and for my own adventures! So thank you to each and every one of you who was along for the journey. I couldn’t have done it without you and I am eternally grateful. Hopefully I can make a similar impact in the community in wherever life takes me next… but first, I’m going to take some time off and rest!

Super sad news. Neal was an incredible artist and quite a force in comics. He’ll be greatly missed….
Neal Adams, Comic Book Artist Who Revitalized Batman and Fought for Creators’ Rights, Dies at 80 He influenced multiple generations with his style and co-created such characters as Ra's al Ghul, the Man-Bat and one of DC's first Black superheroes, Green Lantern Jon Stewart.

I know I say this every year but it's no joke... it's our anniversary! 17 years ago today (April 1, 2005), we opened our doors on Mississippi Ave in North Portland! Hug thanks to everyone who has supported us during these almost TWO DECADES!

Hi folks- well, I honestly didn’t think I’d have to make *another* post about this, especially so soon but someone broke in last night/this morning by smashing the glass in the side door. They got our computer and some other stuff, including some of the new this week comics. 😣 Please bear with us as we get back up and running and deal with this yet again.

Hi friends- well, 2022 isn’t off to a great start. Someone broke in last night (possibly this morning) by taking a crowbar to the back door. Some money was taken (possibly some product, still taking stock) and the door was trashed. We’ve had it repaired and it’s secure, so we’ll be open regular hours starting tomorrow. Think good thoughts (for us and all of the other small businesses that have been robbed) and remember to be kind to people. It’s rough out there.
