Portland! and I are coming up this weekend to visit , and because we want to hear each other’s songs and see our friends, we’re throwing a songwriter-in-the-round hang that will transition into just a hang hang on Saturday eve. Justin Power () is playing too and he writes beautiful songs.

I know the news feels particularly grim these days. Let’s keep fighting in all the ways. Finding joy too.

Two days into 26, dust still settling, but here’s my list, non-comprehensive ofc, of the routines and rarities of this last lap around the sun.

Watched my big sister get married in a deli.
Turned a nine-day trip to Mexico into six weeks.
Played shows up and down and around the country.
Circled the turtle pond at Debs more times than I can count.
Dove the Great Barrier Reef.
Saw the Southern Lights !
Wound up with a last-minute invite to the Tonys.
Summited big rocks in the Sierras.
Made snowballs in Central Park.
Watched a drag queen dressed as Ben Franklin sing Chappell Roan in my backyard to celebrate my friend from Colombia gaining her citizenship.
Busted my lip.
Got punctured by an urchin spine.
Still didn’t get barreled.
Started a new record.
Met some truly wonderful people.
Had many ears lent my way — not just for the songs, but the in-between stuff too.

If someone had read me this list at the start of the year, I would’ve looked back with double-exclamation-point eyes. Still interpreting, but gratitude feels like a good place to land.

Shows are winding down for the year. Wanted to share a few tender moments from Sunday eve playing with my friend . Thank you and for putting this together and inviting me to be a part of it.

I head to Portland later this week for ’s winter show he’s hosting with a bunch of pals at . That will be the final one this year and I’m excited to close it out in collaboration with some of the pnw’s finest !
