72 Equal Temperament is a microtonal tuning that preserves our existing 12 equal tempered notes and adds, 12th, 6th and 1/4 tones. In cents, 16, 33, 50 cents either sharp or flat to our 12 notes. This helps to get very close to Just Intonation’s pure thirds, sixths and sevenths.

My basic melody notes are E F sharp 12th low, G 12th high, G sharp 12th low B, C sharp 12th low & D 12th high.

The chords are simply E,A,B major with a pure major third that’s a 12th low.

Simple.

Here’s a little blues in 72ET, 72 notes to the octave. 6 notes per half step. All thirds, sixths and sevenths are adjusted either 16 cents sharp or flat to spine MORE IN TUNE to Just Intonation.

Tuned to Open E Major with Major 3rd (G sharp) flattened 16 cents so it’s in damn TUNE! I’m yelling! 😂

I haven’t played this guitar in over a year. It’s been buried in the basement with all my other Fretless Frankensteins! 🤘🏼🎸

Tuned Open G (GGDGBD). Low G is an 80 Guage bass string. B is tuned roughly 16 cents flat to make a pure major 3rd, meaning the third is in tune to just intonation.

All microtones are from 72ET which does a good job mimicking Just Intonation an even 1/4 comma Meantone when it comes to Csharp & Db being different notes,

72 notes to octave. 6 notes to half step.

Gear Used:

Microtonal Doom Fretless Guitar with a Dub Drum Loop. Experimenting with a rhythm track and didn’t want to use real/fake drums. So I chose just fake drums. 🤔

Fretless guitar with bass string tuned to E5 chord. Playing in 72ET (EDO) which is 72 notes to the octave. That’s 6 notes to a half step. It would be WAY too many frets for a frettted guitar.

I like FUZZ pedals that sound like the amp is about to explode. Acapulco Gold Into a a vintage VT Bass. 2nd input is a Tech 21 RK5 set clean. Lots going on kids.

Tomorrow for I’ll be playing a solo set of instrumentals and blues tunes. Acoustic Guitar & Cigar Box Guitar. Clean & Dirty! I start at 4pm but come down around 2 to check the other acts.

Every time I get a solo gig, I have no clue what to play. Dirty Blues? American Primitive Instrumentals? Ambient Soundscapes?

Then I pull out The Beast. National M1 Tricone Baritone and arrange a new song I’ve been playing for a while to the slide and The Beast.

Truly, nothing else matters.

This Sunday for an afternoon of concert series featuring -Jylian -yours truly. Show starts at 2pm with Flying Crowbar. I hit the stage at 4pm but come down early and drink 🍺 and eat 🐷 . 🤘🏼
