The Circus Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that utilizes the unique power of circus arts to transcend social barriers and inspire personal transformation. Our cutting-edge, modern circus performances and expert training programs enrich the Northwest arts community, while contributing to the development of circus as an art form and funding outreach to homeless & at-risk youth in the Portland, Oregon metro area.

We are so happy to announce that Echo Theater Company ( ) will take over our 17th Ave gym, which will be dubbed “Echo West.” As The Circus Project is in its final days as an organization, we are honored and pleased that the legacy of circus will continue!

Thank you!

As we reach the final days of our programming, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for our community.

Thank you to all of our students, families, supporters, audience members, coaches, staff, and volunteers. Thank you for sharing your struggles and triumphs, creativity and joy with us!

The spirit and community of circus is boundless, and we are looking forward to seeing what the next chapter of Portland circus will bring.

Here’s a beautiful memory from the archives: the Summer Performance Intensive in 2014 created an ensemble piece on a custom-built aerial birdcage. They took it on tour to the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival and the American Youth Circus Organization festival in Seattle.

Most of these young artists went on to have careers in the circus arts!

Our friends over at A-WOL Dance Collective] are hosting auditions for their training company this weekend!

FlyCo auditions are this Sunday, August 14th from 10am-12pm at the AWOL warehouse.
Pre-registration is required. Email [email protected] for more information and to get registered.

FlyCo is a one-year tuition based performance and technique intensive training from 2022-2023. Training company members are expected to commit to 10-15 hours per week training under the guidance of three dedicated versatile coaches and a variety of guest instructors. Members of this training company will leave with experience in solo act creation, production creation and an overall broader understanding of the aerial dance and contemporary circus industry.
