The studio is located in the Nase Building, just north of the Hawthorne food carts in southeast Portland. The space features plenty of natural sunlight, a Kawai piano, south-facing windows, ample parking, and affordable rates for teachers. The Suzuki method works so well with young children because it aims to develop their musical talent by mirroring the way that children learn their native language. Almost without exception, all children learn their native language to a high degree of ability. This is due to a combination of factors, including immersion in an environment where that language is spoken, desire to interact with other children, and the unconditional love of their parents. Leo started coming to group lessons when he was about two years old, and got his first box violin when he was three. Now at four years old he’s moving confidently through the Suzuki repertoire! What do you think about creating an environment that fosters musical talent?

Thinking of starting violin lessons for your little ones? I am accepting new students this fall!! Back to school season is a great time to get started in lessons. I have taught in Portland since 2008 and work with kids ages 4 and up. I teach using the Suzuki approach—if you are not familiar with this I am happy to discuss the method.
