This funny 15 year old boy pokes you at night to roll over so he can curl up into your tummy and then nibbles your toes when you get up in the morning. This weekend he gave us quite a scare and cleanup, resulting in an after-hours emergency veterinary visit costing $2600. Fortunately, the antibiotics prescribed for a kidney infection appear to be effective.
We were required to contact the owners during the night to obtain authorization for treatment and are grateful their phone was on.
To facilitate efficient emergency medical treatment, homeowners should provide signed authorization letters specifying the maximum allowable expenditure or indicating unlimited authorization prior to travel. Furthermore, considering pet insurance is advisable, as numerous pets under our care have incurred substantial medical bills.
