Working with clients as massage therapists, as healthcare professionals we certainly encounter ethical issues, and we certainly encounter clients who are managing their own levels of trauma. Trauma and how human beings manage it, is more complicated than most of us actually realize and ethical issues and dilemmas can be an obstacle to the therapeutic relationship and the resolution of pain for a client. The specifics of our profession bring us closer to a client suffering from trauma more than others and understanding the framework of how trauma effects an individual is crucial to both safety and ethical massage therapy. The more ethically we approach the complex nature of trauma the better equipped we can be in working with and supporting our clients while maintaining an ethical massage practice. Through the lens of the most up to date neuroscience we examine the effects of trauma on the human nervous system and thereby its effects on the human being. We will look at specific ethical issues that face the massage therapy community in working with clients recovering or experiencing trauma. Join Jonathan C. Primack BA-LMT for this in depth look at ethical massage therapy related to trauma, its mechanisms and its behavioral significance on clients as well as on us as massage therapists. Students will be provided a detailed handout that will support the lecture and power-point presentation. Specifics include: connections between traumatic life events and the manifestation of these events in physical symptomology. Examination of real altered behavioral states, physical triggers and emotional responses through student interactive trauma-based examples and exercises. We look very closely at our scope of practice and how to support the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist. Ethical decision making when referring out and how to maintain healthy, ethical. professional boundaries when working with a human being recovering from trauma.

Wednesday - 9/17 - 10/1 - 10/15 - 10/ 29 - 5-9pm
https://www.absolutebodyworks.com/all-classes
This in person workshop will be a comprehensive sixteen hour workshop focusing on the relationship between the entirety of the innominate bone ( the hip ) and the sacrum, the illiofemoral joint, and the lumbar spine. A comprehensive, three dimensional examination of how overlooked many of the muscular attachments found attached to the entirety of the innominate bone directly affect the structural integrity and the bio-mechanics of the Sacro-illiac joint itself. We will be looking at some of the most common roots of what causes Low Back Pain and SI Joint Dysfunction. Exploring the joint mechanics of the Sacro-iliac Joint, the Iliofemoral Joint, and the Lumbar Spine , looking at the muscular and non muscular structures that are interconnected between these three structural locations, and addressing client reported pain patterns. Postural assessment, anatomical discussion, kinesiology, and effective treatment- oriented techniques are all to be incorporated throughout this workshop. This class will be taught in the titration model, consisting of four workshops meeting every other week for 8 weeks in order to give the student a deeper opportunity to understand, practice and grow with the ideas, concepts and techniques presented in these classes.
This workshop will be kept small in order for students to be able to get the most out of their learning experiences. 8 student maximum.

One of our most requested topics, scoliosis presents the manual therapist with some interesting challenges. Based on current understanding and research, this workshop will be focused on getting a basic understanding of spine and rib cage anatomy and mechanics before moving on to understand how scoliosis affects these regions specifically. Indications, contraindications and considerations for Integrative Bodywork for scoliosis will be covered. We will explore spinal movement and breathing assessments as well as several bodywork techniques for freeing the structures most commonly affected by scoliosis. Since the techniques and concepts covered are based on spinal mechanics common to every spine they are helpful for ALL spines so these techniques can be beneficial for a vast majority of clients.

Ethics is a complex concept that is simultaneously an incredibly important concept. Nearly every day most of us in the field of bodywork are faced with ethical concerns, Sometimes small.... sometimes not so small. Whether it is directly with the clients we are working with or perhaps an employer that we are working for. Issues can even arise between peers or coworkers in the field as well. The decisions that we make that the actions that we engage in not only reflect our own personal and professional code of ethics but also have an effect upon the industry of massage and bodywork as a whole. A strong and clear understanding of the ethical principles that guide each and everyone of us through our days is essential to support healthy work practices and professional relationships.
Join Jonathan Primack BA~ LMT # 10789 as we look at the concept of ethics through the intricate and fascinating lens of neuroscience. Taking a closer look at the complicated structure of the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as its development within each individual, will create a meaningful perspective on how it interprets, processes, and reacts to the world that surrounds us. It is in this way we can better understand many of the ethical scenarios we face regularly. This four hour workshop meets the standards outlined by the OBMT & The Washington Department Of Health.

We are living in an ever growing world of diversity. Our connections on one level become easier through technology, world events, and social media. Yet, we have a level of personal growth that may be lagging behind our exposure to different lifestyles, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, and life experiences. This lack of interaction and the understanding of the diverse cultural world we exist in may be having a greater effect on the individuals that we work with and ourselves. Cultural Competency has its own specific identification under the bigger umbrella of Ethics and deserves a significant look in order to reach greater understanding of ourselves and our clients. This one hour workshop is designed to give you perspective on why Cultural Competency is essential to our profession. This course not only draws many valid parallels between the skill set we as massage therapists practice regularly but supports the significance of how we see our clients as the individual humans that they are.

Free Virtual Workshops – Nationally Certified – OBMT And Washington State Approved - Good In All 50 States
I have been a bodyworker now since 2003. I have been an instructor since 2006. The years have passed quickly and yet have been filled so many amazing moments and opportunities. Honestly as I try to communicate it all to you it is hard for me to find the words of expression necessary to be succinct with how much gratitude I feel for the craft of bodywork and for the community of bodywork.
It would be best said that I have an incredibly healthy relationship with bodywork.
Everything I give to my craft … it gives back to me.
How rare to find such a give and give back in any relationship.
When you give to your relationship and it gives back…. All you want to do is give even more.
There simply is no feeling in the world like it.
As this year has unfolded I have been thinking and thinking how do I do just that.
How do I give even more to this relationship ?
In order to express to all my clients, all my instructors, all my students, and everyone out there that I have yet to have an experience with in the bodywork community I have decided for the entire month of November to give away for free all of the on-line bodywork classes that I have posted at my site.
That’s right for free… no strings attached. Maybe you need a couple of credits … maybe you have always been curious about this approach to bodywork but was not sure it was for you… maybe the financial commitment is a burden.
Whatever the reason, from November 1st thru to December 1st you are welcome to take one Nationally Certified Online Workshop. Oh and before you ask… of course you will get credit and receive a certificate for taking the class, I am not a fan of wasting my time or that of anyone else.
Giving more to the relationship I have with bodywork means giving more to as many of you as I possibly can and this feels like a sincere and honest gesture towards that goal.
At checkout simply type in the code GRATITUDE2024 and a free class is all yours.
Feel free to share this post or the information with anyone and everyone.
Thank you bodywork …. for all that you have given to me.
