As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, Ethos believes cost should never be a barrier to a quality music education. Ethos believes in building community through music.
All group classes and lessons in our N Portland location are sliding-scale, as are many of our programs throughout the Portland metro area. Founded in 1998 in Portland, Oregon, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides music lessons, multicultural performances and workshops to more than 7,000 students a year. We believe that all kids, regardless of socioeconomic status or geographic location, deserve access to music education. Our organization employs eight administrative staff, ten full-time AmeriCorps members and 30 part-time music instructors. The President’s Commission on the Arts and Humanities has named Ethos one of the top 50 after-school arts programs in the U.S. eight times since 2003. To learn more about us, visit www.ethos.org.

A huge thank you to Big Wild (Jackson Stell) for supporting the next generation of music makers at Ethos! Big wild donated a portion of their Tor proceeds to help us purchase new electronic music equipment, giving our students greater access to the tools and technology used to create modern music.
Thanks to their incredible generosity, 28,165 was raised for Ethos! We're so grateful for Big Wild's investment in our students and their creativity.

Join Ethos Music Center and at the for a joyful drum circle experience.
This all-ages, all-abilities session invites families, musicians, and curious newcomers to discover the joy of hand percussion in the warmth of the summer sun. Whether you want to learn fundamental drumming techniques, pick up an instrument and jump right in, or simply dance along to the beat, our welcoming circle has a place for you.
It’s playful, it’s lively, and it just might be the most fun you’ve ever had making noise outdoors!
