Connecting to nature is vital when applying principles of trauma-informed design, and Centennial Place Affordable Housing’s orientation and massing within the site support this primary project goal in several ways. The development’s central courtyard is an inviting outdoor space that has native plantings, seating, and a nature-based playground. It connects with the first-level community room and with the patios of the inward-facing garden-style apartments.
The courtyard also visually connects with Centennial Place’s laundry facilities, homework rooms, and corridor seating areas on levels 2 and 3. For a family-oriented development, this connection is particularly important for the laundry facilities—adults can be doing laundry and still see their children playing at the playground.

At the upcoming Bisnow Pacific Northwest Behavioral Health Summit, SEA Principal Margaret Wilson is a panelist for the "Expanding Access: Delivering Behavioral Health at Scale Across the PNW" panel.
Margaret will contribute her expertise in leading the design of facilities across the Continuum of Care spectrum to the conversation and will bring not only best practices for the architectural side of these spaces to the discussion, but also a knowledge of the complexities and development considerations overall.

The Gateway Discovery Park Pavilion is a landmark and beacon for Portland's Gateway neighborhood. SEA's design has an intriguing quality, where, depending on your viewpoint, the appearance and experience of the structure change. The architectural approach sought to inspire investigation, create shelter, and be a beacon in the night.

Scott Edwards Architecture believes in a people-first world. As designers of the built environment, our role is to create spaces that are responsive, thoughtful, and supportive of the people who use them.
Our values extend beyond design. We believe all people have the right to live, work, and move through their daily lives with safety, dignity, and respect.
When these basic human values are compromised, we believe it is important to acknowledge that reality and affirm our commitment to equity, care, and accountability. We stand with communities seeking to uphold these principles and to protect human life.
For those who feel called to engage - through service, learning, or supporting their communities - we encourage doing so in ways that are meaningful, informed, and safe for everyone.

Jane’s Orchard Residence has a refined, quiet presence well-suited for its garden setting. The home is the final piece in a years-long effort to transform a beautiful parcel of land in Vancouver, Washington, into a cluster of homes for three generations of one family with deep Pacific Northwest roots. The architecture is simple, elevated, and of its place, with a timeless material palette of wood, steel, and glass.

At SEA, we purposely design in a range of markets so that when our team’s experience and array of perspectives combine, it results in unexpectedly creative solutions. Led by our curiosity at first, and now more of a commitment to the value of doing so, we make it a point to design a new project type every year. In 2025, this project was the Pickathon Fractal Forest Stage and Neighborhood, our first music festival installation.
We're keeping track of every new project since our founding on our blog, The Column. Follow the link below to read the full list!

The High Desert Hideout home is expressive of the Central Oregon desert landscape. Scott Edwards Architecture’s contemporary design unifies the interior and exterior using natural materials, appropriate massing, and a dialogue with the surrounding environment.
This house is designed for all seasons and facilitates the active lifestyle of our clients and their young family. Indoors flow easily to the outdoors, and the residence features a gym wing with a sauna, a landscaped courtyard with a pool, spa, and firepit, inviting common spaces, and a second-story home office with a balcony overlooking the high desert.
