The Pearmine Project:
Every design challenge is an opportunity. For this project, the ask was big: create a backyard that cooks, stores, entertains.
How did we meet the challenge? A private enclosed patio with a custom BBQ + kitchen, hidden storage wrapped in Shou Sugi Ban wood, and a hot tub deck that turns the space into a true retreat.

Maximalism at it’s most minimal:
It takes a soft touch to use gold tastefully. This bathroom design brings together sculptural lines, brushed gold hardware, and a warm, minimal palette to create a space that feels calm, current, and quietly opulent.
Every finish was chosen to elevate the everyday. Is it okay to say we have the midas touch?

How do you update the past without erasing it?
These homeowners loved the midcentury charm that made them fall for their house in the first place, but the bathrooms? Not quite as lovable.
The challenge was blending that vintage character with a layout and finishes that actually work for today.
Kevin Twitty helped us reimagine the space to feel fresh and functional while still staying true to its roots. The end result feels like it was always meant to be there.

These Glencoe High students understood the assignment! They built a solid shed for our project Project Homeless Connect. HBF partners with high schools to bring them projects that help students learn construction and compassion!
