I was determined to shoot under a gorgeous rhododendron, but baby girl had other plans.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mia ran her way through this session, all the way to the playground on the opposite side of the park, and then through the rose garden. Pics still turned out perfect and we all had a good laugh chasing after her!

Occasionally I have a moment in my job, where I feel tired, anxious for a new gig, etc.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But then I stop, and break down the reality of what I do. I have the honor to create art for really incredible humans and this recognitions allows all my worries and fatigue to fade away so quickly.

When people ask if I like what I do? I always say, being a photographer will add years onto my life and I wouldn’t be surprise if this ends up being true.

TY to everyone who has trusted me, booked me, and showed me kindness while I work… I’ve made so many new friends and seen some pretty cool places. I’ve created work that makes me proud and confident in what I’m doing. Feeling extra thankful today and wanted to ramble some feels 💛

Also this is why you hire a photographer… because you have pics of your husband and kid… and maybe pics of you and your kid (if your husband is and a trained instagram husband.)

Or you try to take selfies and they just don’t turn out….ha

I always hesitate to make photos, like this first one, as the primary photo in a set.

I get lost in what people want to see vs. what I love; worrying…..will I deter the typical client? The constant struggle of a people pleaser, perfectionist is wanting to satisfy everyone… but the reality is… this is my favorite photo of the whole session.

Anyone can photograph a couple or individual smiling, hugging, etc etc. and you get plenty of that in the final gallery, but I need something fresh and different too. Variety is the spice of life and we can have both.

This first image speaks to me because it’s unusual; unique framing, movement, belly shot with a cat…. File under photos I want to hang in our home but can’t because it’s weird. So here’s to me doing what I want and not trying to please the entire world. Which I’m pretty much doing anyway by justifying this very post. So the joke is on me I guess.

//ALLIE, BEN, MARGOT…. All in the same hallway that we did some of Al’s bridal portraits but round 2… with baby girl joining us in less than 2 months. I am elated for these loving humans to become parents.
