Green Lents
Volunteer, Leadership, and Education opportunities in and around the Lents neighborhood.
Green Lents is a "locally grown" group of neighbors working in teams of volunteers to promote a “green” culture in our community that brings us back to our less-wasteful, more resourceful, and more locally dependent roots through community-driven events, sharing programs and support of local organizations. Our March Work Party at Malden Court Community Orchard was bursting with springtime energy. We pulled weeds, spread mulch, dug out and mulched a path to ease access to blueberries, cleared brambles, and connected with our neighbors. Thanks to all the amazing volunteers who showed up to care for the orchard!
Plants and trees are beginning to flower and bud!
Keep an eye out for our special April 18th Earth Month Work Party - we have a special project planned for the orchard and are collaborating with a few friends of Green Lents.

Plant trees with Green Lents and the City of Portland to care for West Lents on February 21! From 9am-12pm, we will plant trees in the West Lents Floodplain with the City Bureau of Environmental Services in addition to our normal Malden Court Community Orchard care.
This floodplain project restores 18 acres in the Johnson Creek floodplain, reconnects the creek to its historic floodplain, reduces flooding on private property, restores habitat for fish and wildlife, and improves water quality in the creek.
At Malden Court Community Orchard, we're focused on pruning trees, fighting back against weeds, picking up trash and preparing for a big raised bed garden project that starts in March.
Stick around after for a wassailing event at the orchard, where we will share cider and sing songs to help "wake up" the trees for spring!
Snacks, coffee, gloves, tools, and water are provided. Join your neighbors and help make Lents a greener, more resilient neighborhood!
