Too many women spend years wondering what’s wrong with them. They’re exhausted, not sleeping, struggling with brain fog, anxiety, weight gain, low libido, joint pain, or simply don’t feel like themselves anymore.

Then they finally bring it up to a healthcare provider and hear:

“Your labs are normal.” “You’re too young for perimenopause.” “That’s just part of getting older.”

If this sounds familiar, here are a few things I wish every woman knew:

1. Perimenopause can begin years before menopause, often in a woman’s late 30s or 40s.

2. Your symptoms matter. Hormones fluctuate during perimenopause, and a single blood test doesn’t always tell the whole story. “Normal” labs don’t automatically mean nothing is wrong.

3. You deserve answers. If your symptoms are affecting your quality of life, it’s reasonable to ask whether hormones, sleep, stress, thyroid function, nutrition, or other factors may be contributing.

4. Hormone therapy isn’t right for every woman, but if a provider recommends against it, they should be able to explain why it’s not right for you—not simply dismiss the conversation.

5. You deserve to understand all of your options. Treatment may include hormone therapy, lifestyle changes, nutrition support, sleep optimization, weight management, supplements, or other approaches.

6. Even if systemic hormones aren’t appropriate, treatments such as vaginal estrogen can help many women experiencing vaginal dryness, painful in*******se, urinary symptoms, or recurrent UTIs.

7. Just because a symptom is common doesn’t mean you have to live with it.

8. And if you don’t feel heard, it’s okay to get a second opinion.

What a fun morning with the MenoPantry | Nutrition for Midlife team! We loved having them in for DEXA Body Composition and Bone Density Scans.

If you haven’t tried Menopantry’s MenoMix products yet, consider this your sign. Nutrition is one of the most powerful tools women have for navigating and .

The right nutrition can help support muscle mass, bone health, blood sugar regulation, metabolism, energy, focus, mood, digestion, and overall healthy aging.

But it’s also helpful to know where you’re starting from. A scan will give you a detailed look at your body composition, including muscle mass, body fat percentage, visceral fat, and bone density. It can identify changes that often occur during midlife—sometimes years before they become obvious—and gives women a baseline they can use to track their health over time.

Good nutrition and preventive testing go hand in hand. One helps support your health; the other helps you measure it.

And as for MenoMix? It tastes great, keeps you full for hours, and makes it easier to get the nutrition your body needs during perimenopause and menopause.

Research has linked excess visceral fat—the hidden fat surrounding internal organs—to increased risks of heart disease, diabetes, cognitive decline, and other age-related health concerns in men. That's why what's happening inside Dad's body may matter more than what's on the scale.

For Father's Day, we're including a FREE Testosterone Test with every DEXA Body Composition Scan ($200).

A DEXA Body Composition Scan measures:

• Visceral fat
• Muscle mass
• Body fat percentage
• Bone density
• Metabolic health indicators

Low testosterone can contribute to:

• Increased abdominal fat
• Loss of muscle mass
• Low energy
• Reduced performance

The truth is, many men don't realize these changes are happening until they've already begun affecting their health and quality of life.

This Father's Day, help Dad better understand his health so he can stay strong, active, and independent and do the things he loves with the people he loves for years to come.

Call (207) 774-1356 to schedule a DEXA Scan today.

Offer valid through Father's Day.

Many women think hormone therapy is only about relief from hot flashes, night sweats, and other perimenopause symptoms. But hormone health affects much more than how you feel on a given day.

Estrogen, in particular, plays an important role in protecting bone health, supporting heart health, and helping women stay strong, active, and independent as they age.

If you’re struggling with perimenopause symptoms, don’t assume it’s “just aging.”

Get your hormones levels@evaluated. Find a provider who takes your concerns seriously and understands the role hormone therapy can play in both symptom relief and long-term health.

Primary care is essential. But it’s not a longevity plan.

Most primary care providers are focused on diagnosing and treating illness, managing medications, and addressing immediate health concerns. They’re often caring for hundreds of patients and simply don’t have the time for the in-depth conversations that preventive health requires.

Understanding your metabolic health, body composition, muscle mass, nutrition, bone health, osteoporosis risk, hormone status, cognitive health, and future disease risk takes time. It requires testing, thoughtful evaluation, and a personalized plan.

The same is true for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Hormone health isn’t just about symptom relief. It’s preventive care. It can influence bone density, heart health, muscle mass, brain function, and quality of life for decades to come. In many ways, it’s a key part of longevity medicine.

One of the biggest misconceptions about longevity medicine is that it’s something you think about later in life. The reality is that prevention works best before the signs of aging, frailty, and disease begin to appear.

If living a longer, healthier, and more independent life matters to you, find a provider who specializes in prevention and longevity. Learn your numbers. Understand your risks. Ask questions. Take an active role in your future health.

As we often say at the Age Management Center, prevention isn’t just about adding years to your life. It’s about adding life to your years.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for Dr. Marc Demers’ Aging with Intent talk at Health Coaches this week.

One of the key messages from the talk was that healthy aging isn’t just about adding years to your life—it’s about understanding what’s happening inside your body and taking action before problems arise.

In this clip, Dr. Demers discusses the importance of hormone therapy during perimenopause and why hormone therapy, when carefully managed, helps women live longer, and better.

He also highlights the value of DEXA scans—one of the most powerful tools we have for understanding body composition, bone health, muscle mass, and visceral fat. These insights are instrumental in identifying risks earlier so we have time to make changes or add treatments that support strength, mobility, independence, and long-term health.

If you missed the event or would like to watch it again, the full presentation is now available on YouTube. The link is in our bio.
