Oregon Department of Education : PE Laws and Regulations : Physical Education : State of Oregon 06/10/2020

DYK - that Oregon law and Oregon Dept. of Education Division 22 standards require all K-5 schools to average 150 minutes/week in physical education and 225 minutes for grades 6-8? The original law, House Bill 3141, passed in 2007.

Due to the majority of schools being in non-compliance, PE advocates and school administrators/leaders collaborated in 2017 to pass Senate Bill 4 providing a phased-in approach and other flexibility measures to assist schools in achieving compliance. PPS's recent proposed budget cuts walks back even further their efforts to comply with state law.
