In 2003, the same year I packed up my life and moved to Portland, released Melody AM. I don’t think I took it out of rotation for years. There was something about that record that felt like hope. It soundtracked some of the most formative moments of my early life in this city.
Twenty-three years later, I get to open for them on a sold out night at .pdx alongside my dear friend . I genuinely can’t believe this is real.

Oh wow—last night at The Realm was exactly what I needed to start the year. In a moment when I’m furious and heartbroken over America’s attack on Venezuela, I’m choosing to hold fast to joy, because joy is resistance. I find so much of it in music, movement, and community. If we can come together to dance, we are coming together in protest—against violence, imperialism, and everything that tells us to stay silent. It was a true honor to open for Phantogram and to follow DJ Sparrow. We showed up, we moved our bodies, and we reminded each other what solidarity can look like on a dance floor.

I often get shy in including music I have produced in my DJ mixes but I got a jolt of confidence when I dj'ed this set as the direct support for LAERZ so I dropped "All I Want Is You" into the mix. Other artists you will peep in the curation is Kim Carnes, The Jungle Giants, Tuff City Kids, Nyra and more.
