An Activist. An Icon.
Marsha P. Johnson paved many ways. Known for being on the frontlines during the resistance at The Stonewall Inn on June 28, 1969, Marsha P. Johnson was one of the most prominent figures of the gay rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s in New York City.
We are honored to have our culturally specific program that supports LGBTQIA+ survivors be named in her legacy- the Marsha’s Folx Program.

Bradley Angle opposes HUD’s proposed rule, “Equal Access to Housing in HUD Programs Revisions” Docket No. FR–6518–P–01, RIN 2501–AE12.
The proposed rule would create serious barriers to accessing shelter and services for many vulnerable community members, including LGBTQIA+ individuals. We are enraged.
The harder it becomes for individuals to safely access shelter, the longer they are likely to remain unsheltered. Unsheltered individuals face increased risks of violence, exploitation, severe weather exposure, worsening health conditions, and other harms.
Check out our recent blog post at the link below to join us now in advocating on behalf of equal access to housing!

We know here in Portland, Oregon we usually celebrate PRIDE in July but June is in fact the official kick off! In 2023, Portland moved its official Pride Festival and Parade to July to avoid continued overlap with Juneteenth celebrations ensuring that our community has the opportunity to participate in both.
Pride Month is a time to celebrate the resilience, leadership, and voices of LGBTQIA+ communities while also recognizing the challenges many still face, including domestic and intimate partner violence.
Did you know- Bradley Angle’s Marsha’s Folx Program provides culturally specific support to LGBTQIA+ survivors and is one of few programs of its kind in the entire state of Oregon! Learn more about our Marsha's Folx Program at: https://www.bradleyangle.org/marshas-folx

May’s Word of the Month: Vicarious Trauma
Vicarious Trauma: the emotional, cognitive, and physical exhaustion resulting from empathically engaging with trauma survivors.
Also known as “the cost of caring.”
Supporting survivors of domestic violence can expose you to repeated stories of fear, coercion, grief, danger, and crisis. And over time, that can lead to vicarious trauma. If you do not take care of yourself while caring for others, vicarious trauma can quietly consume your emotional and physical well-being, leaving you unable to effectively support anyone- including yourself.
Here are 7 quick tips to reduce the impacts of vicarious trauma.
