When I make a bouquet I love if there is no right or wrong way to show her off.

Definitely take that time alone after the ceremony, with your photographer, and if you happen to be downtown - the photos will be priceless!

My planning career came full circle last weekend when I had the honor of getting to plan Ian & Katherine’s celebration in the place where I first started out as a wedding planner, San Diego! The wedding industry in San Diego is very different and I’ve missed it greatly. It was such an honor to get the opportunity to go back.

This wedding was so much fun, and it wouldn’t be like me to not get excited when my couple wanted and indoor venue in San Diego where they could focus on excellent food and drinks and a game night reception. They knew right away when we toured Flora, it was the perfect choice! When I tell you we had to turn on the lights at the venue and tell everyone it was time to say good night, most of the guests and family were still engrossed and had to quickly finish their current games!

Intimate weddings are a favorite of mine. And choosing the venues and people who mean the absolute most to you doesn’t mean you are having a cheap wedding, it means you are directing your wedding budget intentionally towards the people, things and places that mean the absolute most to you. It’s the best recipe for a perfectly you day.

My family and friends all came together in Napa to celebrate my 50th birthday with me. It was so much fun to relax, sip wine, eat fantastic food and enjoy spending time together with the people I love. ❤️🩷

Babies breath bouquets are in again, things to know, babies breath bouquets only look good if you know how to shape and work with babies breath. If you just bundle several stems of babies breath, if looks like a hot mess.

Babies breath is a major allergy trigger because it’s one of the most fragrant flowers on Earth, yet they make beautiful crowns so we make folks itch by putting them on heads.

Locally grown babies breath is the best and it’s only available in summer. It looks nothing like the stuff you see in grocery store bouquets.

Babies breath bouquets that look good, are not inexpensive alternatives to other bouquets. That said they are less expensive than say an orchid, amaranth and lily bouquet.

Our local floral farmers are super heroes who bring us magical living beauties every Wednesday early before the sun rises, so we can use them to turn into bouquets, backdrops, and memories to cherish for a lifetime. It’s a lot of work. The art of being an event florist is not something simple. The materials are expensive, the techniques take years to develop. The design is an artistry.

If you are looking for a designer for your event here are a few tips:

Start with a budget and color scheme.
Don’t shy away from sharing inspo pics, but remember that was somebody else’s art and your design like every flower should be unique.

If you hire a professional designer, they will include vessels, accessories, set up, room flip, and clean up in their quote.

If you are on a small budget and an event designer is out of your price range, or you want an exact copy of a bouquet or design, look to a local flower shop instead of an event designer.

Silk rentals are another option, they do not look the same! That is ok but set realistic expectations. Luxury rental options are also expensive, so keep that in mind. They are great when you want a $20,000+ look for a lot lower price. The DIY kits you see online are NOT luxury silk design rentals.

A great designer won’t make you feel bad for having and staying within your budget. They will give you real design options you can afford.
