Slavic community Show , at 9am on 90.7fm in Portland Oregon or KBOO Community Radio www.kboo.fm is dedicated to a topic of domestic violence in our religious communities. Organization Slavic Oregon social services is preparing an event on Saturday, April 11, of an uplifting evening of music in support of Slavic survivors! The Sound of Hope concert will feature a variety of Slavic musicians and vocalists. Before the concert, enjoy refreshments and purchase tickets to win raffle prizes.
Hosted at Westminster Presbyterian Church in northeast Portland, the concert begins at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m. for the reception.
Tickets are $30; children 12 and under are free. Please use the form below to reserve your tickets. Proceeds benefit EMO’s Slavic Oregon Social Services, which assists survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
PERFORMERS
Inna Kovtun (image right) is a traditional Ukrainian ethno-singer, dancer, teacher and folklorist from Kyiv, Ukraine. She was a fixture in the Ukrainian art scene, known for performing traditional folk songs with a powerful voice and massive stage presence. Kovtun has been the artistic director and leader of the folk band Rozhanytsia, deputy general director of the Ukrainian Academic Municipal Brass Orchestra, soloist of the international ethno project EDK, and soloist of the ethno-rock band Astarta. She actively participates in initiatives that support Ukraine and promote Ukrainian culture in Portland and elsewhere.
Other performers include Lana Markov, Maria Ombush, vocalist Aleksandra Sinitsina and violinist Isabella Yarmolich
