🎉🎉 We’re excited to celebrate the grand opening of Chiloquin’s new 11,580-square-foot gymnasium Wednesday, Dec. 3. The event begins at 1 p.m. with the National Anthem performed by students Keira Coleman and Isabella Wagoner 🎶 followed by a welcome from Principal Ruben Paschal.

Speakers include KCSD Superintendent Glen Szymoniak, Tribal Chairman William Ray, and members of the KCSD Board of Directors. Garin Riddle, director of Culture and Heritage for The Klamath Tribes, will offer a blessing before the ribbon-cutting ceremony ✂️ Guests are then invited to tour the new facility 🏟️

Free hot dogs will be served at the day’s basketball games 🌭 The first game tips off at 4 p.m. 🏀

In January, Soderstrom was proud to be selected as a recipient of the 2025 Energy Trust of Oregon Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship (NZELI) grant—a meaningful step in advancing our firm’s work toward The American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2030 Commitment.

We welcomed Mac Capizzi as our NZEL Intern, and their contributions have been instrumental in advancing our sustainability efforts. Mac has played a key role in refining our Sustainability Action Plan and developing practical toolkits that help integrate sustainability and energy efficiency across our practice. One of their primary initiatives has been logging all active qualifying 2024 projects into the DDx (Design Data Exchange) portal—the platform used to submit our firm’s portfolio to the AIA 2030 Commitment.

On February 4th, Soderstrom, Klosh Group, and Pence Contractors joined St. Paul School District 45 board members, students, and faculty for the groundbreaking of the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) building at St. Paul High School.

The new CTE facility addresses the growing demand for Agricultural Sciences and technical programs, serving over 73% of students. The 1963 building no longer meets the needs of the expanding programs. The new space will offer upgraded resources and room for fields like Horticulture, Animal Science, Ag Mechanics, Woodworking, Welding, and more. As the year winds down, we’re filled with gratitude for our clients, partners, and team members. 2024 was a big one: we welcomed 10 new team members, celebrated 40 years of collaboration, and reflected on the projects and partnerships that shaped us.

This milestone reminds us why we do what we do—working together to create spaces that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. Here’s to 40 years of innovation and the exciting road ahead.

The St. Helens High School campus used to be spread across four separate buildings with unsecured entry points, making students trek between them no matter the weather. In 2020, we helped the district secure a $55M bond, followed by an additional $4M in 2023 to redesign the campus for greater security, flow, and functionality.

Key upgrades include:

Modern science labs
A new cafeteria
A media center
Specialized classrooms for healthcare & culinary arts

We’ve also reimagined gathering spaces, added synthetic turf fields, and improved traffic flow with streamlined parking and drop-off lanes. Phase 1 was completed in April 2024, with Phase 2 wrapping up in 2025.

As Straightaway Cocktails continues to expand and gain national recognition, they needed a bigger space to match their success. Their new 44,000-square-foot distillery and production facility in Tualatin, OR is designed to scale with them.

The new space features:
• A dozen distilling tanks
• Automated bottling lines
• Dedicated storage for racks, ingredients, and packaging

We've partitioned the building into key areas: blending, bottling, and canning; a warehouse for finished products; and cold storage for lab and office space. With the capacity to produce 50,000 gallons and flexible planning for future growth, the design is built for both now and what's to come.

We're proud to have led the design of the production spaces and project coordination to bring this vision to life.
