Getting some end of summer adventures in before the weather gets bad. We did this paddleboard camp trip last year and had a great time so decided to go again this year and explore the half of the lake we didn't see last year. Highly recommended!!

Thoughts on being too attached to time and the idea of waiting and patience with or without a temporary disability.
“...maybe the biggest problem we’ve had to face in the last hundred years was the qallunaat (colonizers) bringing us time. They believe that time spent waiting is time waisted -waisted lifetime.”

Got the cast off yesterday. Yay!! It's amazing how quickly I became used to having a man made rock weighing several pounds attached to my leg I became over the last few weeks. And how liberating it is to be able to move with more freedom and start therapeutic movements with my ankle.
This prompted me to ponder, what other heavy burdens in my life have I been carrying around, restricting my movements, weighing me down. Fear? Anger? Regret? The body is such a great entry point for transformation in the human experience, which is: physical, energetic, psycho-emotional, intelligent thought, and connection to the infinite.

Thoughts on being temporarily disabled: When I woke up yesterday I was feeling annoyed at the exponential amount of extra effort it now takes to get out of bed and go to the bathroom, to move from one side of the room to the other, to carry a book or glass of water from one room to another, ect. Then I thought of the incredible privilege I have that I’m able to receive medical care that will allow me to have a full recovery, with maybe a little nerve damage and some minor discomfort from screws left in my ankle. Then I thought of the genocide happening in Gaza. Then I thought of the atrocities happening in Congo….

Thoughts on having a life changing injury:
When a huge challenge like this occurs in life it’s like a sledge hammer on the head to slow way down and see the lesson, so that we/I don’t miss an opportunity for growth. For me, the first of many lessons in this is to… SLOW WAY DOWN. Slow down, take stock, and recalibrate my direction in life. I labeled myself as having an A type personality in an earlier post but I actually don’t think that is appropriate for me. I see an A type personality as stemming from what my heroine Bell Hooks described so eloquently as the “White-Supremacist Capitalist Patriarchy” that is our American culture. Where, in order to get ahead in life or have success you need to climb on and or suppress somebody else. So, I’m going to borrow a more appropriate term for the way I move through the world as being “A doer”. As a doer this injury has struck at the heart of how I operate in the world. Even before this injury I recognized one of my greatest challenges is to stop “doing” long enough to feel feelings, have emotions consciously, and connect with the concentric circles starting with immediate family and expanding to greater community. I’ll expand on this more later. But for now I’ll just share that more than the pain of the injury, the stress of lost income, and the physical challenges of daily activities is the challenge of not being able to be physically present for Minga and Kele in the way that I’m used to and in fact being a burden, as I ask for help on a daily basis in ways none of us are accustomed.
P.S. In a previous post I used original artwork from Dave Pilkey and didn’t acknowledge or hashtag him. I’m new to social media for the most part and will try not to make this error in the future. Sorry Dave! You're a genius!
