“Crisis is unavoidable. Every human life seems to be drawn eventually, as if by some unspoken parallel, some tidal flow or underground magnetic field, toward the raw, dynamic essentials of its existence, as if everything up to that point had been a preparation for a meeting, for a confrontation in an elemental form with our essential flaw, and with what an individual could until then, only receive stepped down, interpreted or diluted.” -
A crisis in clinical work, often indicates that the whole system needs to change and is changing. There is always crisis before there is profound change, and eventually an arrival of a new homeostasis. My hope is that we are undergoing an immense transformation and that right now we are experiencing the pain of crisis to move us through. Stay strong. Stay present. Stay courageous, beautiful people. We are riding a pretty intense wave right now, and I would like to use this platform to share some resources and tips for grounding in a time of crisis.
Tips:
-develop some rituals of self care such as meditation, mindful movement (walk outside or yoga) and journaling
-remind yourself in times of overwhelm that uncertainly is inherently challenging for all humans, and self compassion is the antidote
-enjoy nature and notice the beauties of it
-reach out for support via FaceTime
-use this as an opportunity to connect with loved ones locally or at a distance (right now it’s all the same)
-use social media to stay connected, but limit when it lends itself to fear
-keep good boundaries with the media and notice how it makes you feel
-be grateful for the connections you have and how the lack of connection makes you realize how healthy human connection is for our body and soul
Please share your tips and strategies for coping with social isolation! I would love to hear.
