We serve 6 counties in OR & Clark County, WA. For many families, homeownership represents the American Dream and how most households build wealth.

Proud Ground creates permanently affordable homeownership opportunities for low-income households, provides HUD-certified counseling, and stewards homeowners post-purchase to ensure long-term stability. But generations of families with low-incomes and a disproportionate number of Households of Color have been locked out of homeownership. Proud Ground is working to change that by unlocking homeowne

In observance of World CLT Day today, May 15, Proud Ground recognizes that at the heart of every community is the pursuit of stability, well-being, and a true sense of belonging.

As a nonprofit community land trust (CLT), Proud Ground helps create the conditions for these values to thrive by holding land for the lasting benefit of the community.

Today, 623 homes are part of Proud Ground’s CLT, helping ensure affordable homeownership opportunities remain accessible for generations to come.

The modern CLT movement traces back to New Communities, Inc., founded by Black civil rights activists in the United States. Its vision was also shaped by land stewardship traditions from around the world, including the Gramdan villages of India, the Moshav settlements of Israel, the Garden Cities of England, the ejidos of Mexico, and the Ujamaa Vijijini of Tanzania.

The continued growth of community land trusts reflects a shared global belief: that communities are stronger when people have stable, affordable places to call home.

We are grateful for the elected officials, supporters, homeowners, and partner organizations who continue to champion community land trusts and the future of affordable homeownership.

This morning we had the pleasure of welcoming two Proud Ground champions—friends since 7th grade here in Portland and now partners at Grand Union Real Estate—Tyler Koski and Michael Harris.

Through their active participation on our realtor list and continued support as corporate partners, they are helping more income-eligible families access stable, permanently affordable homes through Proud Ground's community land trust model.

We’re grateful for their leadership and their shared commitment to community that shows up every day!

Reclaimed Solar Panels Benefit Proud Ground Homeowners Through Lower Electric Bills

This Earth Day, Proud Ground recognizes our nonprofit partner Solar for All, Inc. For 2026, they have generously donated the reclaimed solar panels and installation for 10 Vancouver homeowners to receive the benefits of clean, affordable energy, bringing the total to 47 Proud Ground homes in Oregon and SW Washington they have served since 2015.

From single households on fixed incomes to growing families stretching every dollar, each story is different. Yet, they share one thing in common: solar power will bring them financial stability and peace of mind for decades to come.

These aren't just solar panels—they're monthly savings that help families afford groceries, healthcare, and their children's futures.
