If, unsurprisingly, it was not the last action picture, it did mark the definitive end of the cartoonish 1980s action-hero era — at least for a little while.
Revisit: Last Action Hero - Spectrum Culture A meta-action movie as well as a satire, the ambitious, occasionally messy Last Action Hero proved too much for normie '90s audiences. But it's a funny and incisive blast.
