It only took 12 years. Yesterday, Judge Bushong fully approved our settlement for the remaining folks in the Le Cordon Bleu/Western Culinary Institute class action. This was our long-running predatory trade school fraud case. We're pleased to finish it up, and really happy that the remaining class members will receive tuition refunds of 50 percent.
To all who served, happy Veterans Day. Special shout out to the Qarmat Ali vets. Representing you was the highest honor.
So here's some overdue new: We've expanded! I'm pleased to announce that Chelsea Strautman has joined the firm, and we're changing our name to the Sugerman Law Office. In addition to our work protecting consumers and Oregonians, Chelsea will be bringing her expertise in immigration and asylum law to the Sugerman Law Office.

We’re getting a lot of calls and emails on our BP/ARCO debit card overcharge case. The case is fully settled.
Class members will receive two checks totaling at least $185. The first checks—a total of 1.7 million—are going out over the next several weeks. The second will be next year.
So that check you got? Yes it’s legit, and yes we did well here.
Meanwhile, here’s a pretty good write up of what this case means.

I think I’m being punked. Yesterday, the court gave final approval to the $409 million settlement in our case against BP for illegal overcharges at Oregon ARCO stations. Today, these gorgeous flowers arrived. Check out the card—I’m pretty sure BP didn’t send them.

On our Le Cordon Bleu cases, a story by KATU about the attorneys general settlement with Career Education Corp. This settlement is pretty much a nothingburger for all but a small group of people who have outstanding debts to the school. It doesn’t pay back any money, and it doesn’t address student loans. We are less than 30 days from our first arbitration. We are so looking forward to that hearing.
Settlement reached for Le Cordon Bleu student loan relief Former Le Cordon Bleu student loan debt owed to Le Cordon Bleu's for-profit company will be forgiven as part of a settlement agreement that was reached between Oregon, Washington and 47 other states. In Oregon, 2,185 students will receive loan forgiveness for money owed to Career Education Corporati...
