Tools put away. Shop cleaned up. Lights off.

Sixteen years of sawdust, late nights, early mornings, and everything in between. Almost 470 projects for clients who trusted me with their homes and businesses. I gave everything I had to this craft and I have zero regrets.

Milbourn Woodworks isn’t gone. Just resting.

I’m stepping into something new and I couldn’t be more ready. A new chapter is beginning and I’ll be sharing more very soon.

Thank you Portland. Thank you to every single client, supplier, and collaborator who was part of this journey.

The best is yet to come.

Custom cherry bed frame for Kailen in Newport, Oregon.

Built this queen size frame designed specifically for a tall guy in a small coastal studio apartment who wanted an investment piece that would grow with him.

Six trundle drawers split evenly on each side - spacious and functional. Right now it fits perfectly in his studio with just enough room to spare. When he eventually moves into a bigger space he’ll be able to access both sides fully. Built it right the first time so he doesn’t have to think about it again.

FSC certified cherry from Collins Pine The color on this wood is gorgeous and only gets better with age.

When it fit into that tiny room just perfectly his face said it all. That’s what this is about.

This was my last coast delivery before wrapping up the shop and heading out of the country. Newberg to Newport in one trip, then back to Portland to turn off the lights.

Next chapter incoming.

Custom walnut armoire/wardrobe for a client in Newberg.

This piece was a challenge to build by myself. Lots of joinery, hand-fitted doors and drawers. Built to store clothing while being a centerpiece in their bedroom.

Combination of Oregon black walnut from with natural color variation and rich grain, with contrasting cherry dovetail drawers and back, and hand machined white oak closet dowel.

One of my last pieces before wrapping up the shop. Proud of how this one turned out.

Spec piece straight from my mind’s eye.

Built this 36-inch high table with a 30-inch diameter top as a personal challenge while working on a similar round top project. Decided to design a different style splayed base and it turned into something I’m really proud of.

The joinery is mostly hidden but it’s all lap joints throughout, around a central 4-way scooped post. Took a lot of thought and precision to build. Made from fire big leaf maple with tons of fiddleback figure and even some quilted grain. The wood on this one is seriously nice. 🔥

Offered it to Rachel .dnp , one of my best customers, and she swooped it up. She’ll either keep it in her house or at her med spa depending on where it fits best. Right now it’s residing in her interim studio along with a couple other pieces I’ve built.

Glad it went to a good home. 😊

Creative workspaces where good work happens.

From the Whimsical Learning Tree desk for homeschool kids to slab desks for solo work, office suites for big teams, and communal tables for gathering and collaborating. Every workspace has its own vibe and purpose. I’ve been lucky to be part of a few good ones.

It’s rad building the place where someone spends their workday - dreaming up plans, grinding through projects, making things happen. Your desk should inspire you to show up. 💪

A couple custom countertop installations.

Wood isn’t always the most practical choice for kitchen counters, but it brings a warmth that generic countertops can’t touch. First one is quartersawn Oregon White Oak, second is FSC certified cherry. Both custom fit for their spaces.

Stone might be more durable, but wood makes a kitchen feel like home.

FIFTEEN+ YEARS IN, STILL NOT TIRED OF THIS WOOD.

Made this reclaimed Douglas Fir table and bench for a customer before the holidays.

Boards came from , originally floor joists from old Portland homes. Spent time selecting pieces with matching grain, preserving the original rough-cut mill marks. That’s the real character right there.

The authentic color and quality of old Doug Fir. No stain, just 100+ year old wood from old trees.

That never gets old.

Trees give everything.

Oregon black walnut in full fall color. Old growth Douglas fir standing tall. Maples doing their thing in the forest. Shade, oxygen, habitat, beauty - they’ve been giving long before we ever noticed.

Eventually some give one more time. Tables, chairs, guitars, even houses. A different life, still giving.

There’s heart in that exchange. Respecting what’s given and transforming it into something that lasts.

Grateful for what these forests provide.
