I am overjoyed to announce that Digital Dabblers is joining next Tuesday at for a Drink-n-Draw from 6-8pm! In this exciting crossover event we will have the typical 4x6” character sheets, dice rolls for prompts/ideas, but for our folks on an iPads or a tablet device you can follow along in your art software of choice. In this fun art game ideas are decided by dice rolls and by the collective imagination of the group. Attendance at DoodleDome events and Digital Dabblers events range around 10-15+ so this will be a larger social than usual. Let’s bring our two communities together to make new friends and enjoy the delicious food/drinks at Baerlic SW.

Our SCHOLARSHIP & MENTORSHIP opportunity is back in 2026!!. In partnership with the People’s Colloquium, we are now accepting applicants to our 1 year scholarship and mentorship program. This is a continuation of our wildly successful scholarships that went out March of last year (now with 8 slots instead of 2). Darla .art and Kristian .res started with limited experience volunteering with us and in only 6 months created and hosted their own digital art workshops. In addition, our current recipients have been heavily involved in our on-going group project codenamed “project belonging” which has moved past animatics and into full production. Not only do scholarship recipients receive free access to all of our workshops/socials/events but they also receive peer support and dedicated mentorship from Digital Dabblers alum and leadership.
Check our LinkTree to apply (deadline for first 4 slots is May 1st, 2026 at Midnight).
Darla and Kris have agreed to help mentor and onboard our new recruits offering a new dynamic for future awardees. I am also overjoyed to share that our nonprofit has partnered with Vocational Rehabilitation and is actively enrolling clients through this amazing host agency. If you or anyone you know is interested in joining an amazing volunteer team, needs help bolstering their portfolio and leadership skills, this is the opportunity for them. What started as a small Meetup group has blossomed into a thriving community—helping provide digital literacy training for adults of all backgrounds and means (going far beyond digital art and into project management, design, public speaking, career development, personal development, and so much more!).
Had a wonderful workshop learning 3d art this weekend! Our class sizes have been around 4-8 students ensuring personalized attention in a supportive environment :)
In this class we covered the basics of 3d rigging a human hand, with applications to 3d animation, 3d printing, and modeling.

I’m so excited to announce our first Nomad Sculpt workshop hosted by Darla
Darla has an extensive background in 3d sculpture and 3d printing and is also a scholarship recipient through our organization. I’ve already taken her workshop and it was super easy to follow and really fun (even for someone who isn’t used to working directly on a tablet vs a PC).
In the workshop you’ll cover the basics of Nomad on iPad or Android including: creating a basic shape, radial repeaters, mirroring, vertex coloring, and sculpting tools like crease, drag, move, and inflate.
AND, if all of this sounds confusing DONT worry the workshop is designed for a total beginner and each step/term is explained as you go.

Join us Sunday for our first workshop of 2026!
Had a fun time hosting our 3rd annual holiday art exchange. Each year artists sign up to be randomly assigned a friend to make a piece of art for (any medium and style). We even had someone join us this year that had never met anyone in our community or attended any events in-person. Workshops and other fun events will resume January 2026–have a wonderful holiday and see y’all soon!!

Join us for our 3rd Annual Holiday Art Exchange at the Digital Dabblers Studio Sunday Dec 21st 10am-1pm!
How it works:
1. Join our discord and let us know if you would like to participate!
2. I will add everyone to a private thread and request folks preference for what kind of art they would like to receive. Examples, “make a silly character” “anime theme” “pets and animals” etc.
3. I will then use a random generator and DM folks with who they’re making the art for.
4. You have until Dec 21st at 10am to submit your art in the group thread or deliver in-person if it’s physical art.
5. Rules: Only spend a MAX of 6ish hrs on your piece, and please do not judge the quality of others art!
6. Those participating and attending in-person will be entered into a raffle to unwrap physical gifts under our Holiday tree
Every year we take this time to celebrate the holidays in a way that blends creativity, gift giving, and meeting new friends! For folks with limited financial means this also offers a way for join in the holiday spirit without anxiety about buying expensive gifts. Any form of art is welcome for the exchange and has included acrylic, pencil/paper, digital, printed, and animated content. If you’re a digital artist in Portland or a traditional artist and looking for a fun beginner friendly community we hope you can join us for this fun event.
So far we have 10 folks signed up and counting!!!

I can’t believe it’s been over 3 years hosting our most popular social: “Digital Creatives & Coffee” Sunday mornings
It has been a humbling and harrowing journey to keep our community alive and thriving while seeing difficult economic impacts hitting small businesses and nonprofits in Portland’s Central Eastside. We are always grateful to have third spaces to offer community for digital creatives of all abilities, backgrounds and means. While there are many art groups in Portland and even a few others focused on digital artists but I think what sets us apart is our focus on being beginner friendly, chill and welcoming to everyone and embracing a fair amount of whimsy.
I’ve personally met hundreds of artists hosting all our events over 4+ years and folks are always quick to comment about how welcoming it feels to join. For us it’s not just about teaching digital skills, it’s about creating a space of belonging. If we can offer events where someone knows they belong (and they couldn’t find that at other groups), that tells us that it’s important to continue this work. Despite all the crazy stuff going on in the world right now I can’t wait for more socials, more workshops and to see all the fun art that comes from our group projects.
Thank you and the wonderful baristas for what you do in supporting our mission 🥹

⏰Sunday 8-Noon
Once again we hosted another figure and gesture drawing workshop this past Sunday with modeling for us! Starting with quick 30 second poses helps us get out of our heads and warm up our drawing muscles. 1-5 minute poses then help with capturing more detail while still aiming for capturing the subjects essence, form and pose. Finally, RaShad demonstrates dribbling a basketball for use later by our animators during Wednesdays motion studies drop in classes.
Week 3 of our on-going series on figure and gesture drawing! This time we were accompanied by May who has been active on our Discord for years but we just met in-person this past Sunday! She also made the self portrait of me that appears on a lot of our marketing flyers. What an amazing talent, extremely humble and such a rich portfolio of professional experience. We learned that May did 3d modeling and other crime scene visualization in forensics for many years and is now transitioning into being a first time mom. We have new models every week with a variety of body types and personalities to keep our drawing sessions fresh and interesting. I can’t wait to review the reference footage later and work on some short animations and illustrations!
Hope you can join us next time!
