That’s a wrap on this year’s LeadingAge Washington in Wenatchee!

We had a great time connecting with partners, clients, and senior living professionals from across Washington.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We loved seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, and being part of conversations around senior living.

Congratulations to the Walsh Climbing Club (WCC) on another successful summit of Mt. Hood! After months of training, teamwork, and early morning preparation hikes, this year’s team reached the 11,249-foot summit of Oregon’s highest peak, continuing a proud tradition that began with the club’s founding in 2014.

The climb began under the stars and ended with a safe sunrise descent and celebration at Silcox Hut — a rewarding finish to an unforgettable journey built on perseverance, trust, and camaraderie.

Huge congratulations to Brian Hopkins, Jacob Hurley, Justin Cole, Kolby Shimojima, Micah Gibson, Mindee Tower, Sami Tower, Tony Sjolander, and Tyler Granshaw on this incredible accomplishment. Your determination and teamwork truly reflect the spirit of Walsh Construction Co.

A special thank you to Martin Houston for founding and leading the Walsh Climbing Club over the years, and to Timberline Mountain Guides, INC for their expert guidance and unwavering commitment to safety. Congratulations as well to Marty and his two sons, Emmett and Owen, on the incredible accomplishment of summiting together this year.

We’re incredibly grateful to our executive team of Matt Leeding, John Wied, Ryan Wilde, and Jay Nees for continuing to support opportunities that strengthen connection, teamwork, and culture across our company.

Join us in celebrating this amazing team and their journey to the summit!

As HDC’s King County Affordable Housing Week comes to a close, we’re grateful for the opportunity to come together with partners and community members to celebrate the work happening across the region.

This week, we had a great time touring Mercy Housing NW’s Burien Family Housing project, which Walsh is proud to be building. When complete, the project will bring 91 affordable homes to the Burien community and will be located next to Mary’s Place’s new family shelter, creating a connection between housing, services, and support for families.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to HDC for bringing people together.

Last week, we proudly participated in the Oregon Tradeswomen Career Fair for the 31st consecutive year — and this year’s event saw record attendance, with more than 2,200 students and chaperones exploring hands-on career opportunities across a wide range of industries, including our favorite: construction.

We brought back the Walsh house experience, giving students the chance to frame walls, safely use power tools, and learn the fundamentals of construction safety firsthand.

A huge thank you to our Walsh and RDF volunteers, who made the experience engaging, approachable, and fun through their patience, knowledge, and enthusiasm. We had an incredible time inspiring the next generation of builders and are already looking forward to next year’s Fair.

Last week, we joined partners and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of Jamii Court — a project already taking shape in Southwest Portland.

“Jamii” means “community” in Swahili, and Jamii Court is already bringing people together. Replacing the former Portland Value Inn site in SW Portland, the five-story development will provide 96 deeply affordable, family-sized homes in a walkable, transit-accessible neighborhood. Thoughtfully designed by LRS Architects with trauma-informed, community-centered spaces, Jamii Court will support families, marginalized residents, and neighbors at risk of displacement.

CPAH’s partnership with HAKI Community Organization and Urban League of Portland will help connect residents with critical support services, including emergency family assistance and culturally responsive resources.

We’re honored to help bring this important project to life and grateful to everyone involved for their collaboration and commitment. Special shout out to our OWCB team of Dan Snow, Meghan Herteg, Blake Flury, Cody Pronozuk, Dana Legg, and Amanda Flores!

Over the last couple of weeks, the Seattle and Portland teams each came together for their local All Hands meetings, giving teams across the region time to connect, hear updates, and spend time outside the usual day-to-day.

Seattle kept the tradition going with the famous BBQ competition, featuring brisket, arepas, ribs, and more. Because when the food is that good, everyone wins. also joined us for a sweet treat to top it all off!

Whether in Seattle or Portland, we’re grateful for these moments that bring our teams together, celebrate our local traditions, and keep us connected!

Earlier this week, we celebrated the grand opening of the first phase of Hillside Park's redevelopment: Blossom & Community and Parkside Heights!

Originally built as WW2 housing, this exciting new community not only remains affordable, but increases capacity substantially. This was the first phase, bringing three buildings and 275 new affordable apartments, 21 of which are permanent supportive housing. Beautifully designed by Ankrom Moisan, the buildings also hold custom artwork by local artists, including a masterful wood wall installation by our very own RDF Builders!

Congratulations to Related Northwest, Housing Authority of Clackamas County, the City of Milwaukie, and everyone else who played a part in this important project! And a special shout-out to our Walsh team of Bennett Barnwell, Brandon Fassiotto, John Hardesty, Tyler Granshaw, Liz Stewart, Kolby Shimojima, Micah Gibson, Justin Cole, Brian Ware, and Monica Vilay!
