Rose Room PDX
Intermediate 6 - 7 PM and Advanced 7 - 8 PM, followed by DJed music 8 - 10PM, Cash Bar.
Dan Newsome and Dianne Eramo are delighted to be starting up a new place to grow your lindy hop skills and enjoy social dancing in Portland on Wednesday evenings.
After a lot of thought, Dan and I have made the difficult decision to close down Rose Room. Starting a new weekly dance takes a lot of time, energy, and resources, and with attendance down across the swing scene, we've decided our efforts are better spent supporting the Portland swing dance community in other ways. Thank you to everyone who came out to dance with us, our wonderful volunteers, and everyone who cheered us on along the way. We truly appreciate all of your support.
But this isn't goodbye! We're already making plans for what comes next, and we're excited to share them with you when the time is right. So stay tuned! We'll see you on the dance floor.
Dianne & Dan

To prepare you for our July classes, here's a little something from one of our instructor's (Daniel) blog.
https://thehomeofhappyfeet.net/what-is-this-thing-called-swing/
July class registration is open. Class this month is all about musicality and style.
In our Intermediate class (6pm), we are going to explore how Lindy Hop footwork is structured, how to make up improvisations on your own as well as going through some of the classic improvisations. By the end of four weeks, you will have handled a bunch of classic steps plus you’ll have a new understanding that will give you infinite future variations. Make your dancing look effortless, and express it in new ways.
In our Advanced class (7pm), we are going to be studying everything about me musicality from the macro to the micro musical structure, different approaches to the beat ways to open up your dancing and what it looks like when you truly understand what’s going on inside the music. This will be part dancing, part experimentation, part demonstration, part lecture, and even a little homework. At the end of the four weeks, our goal is to change the way that you experience swing dancing. Great for social dancers that want to be better without learning new moves, competitors and choreographers.
Since July is five Wednesdays - on the last Wednesday we’re going to have a special intermediate and advanced routine choreographed by Dianne. She will challenge you and help you focus on ways to bring out the music with the way that you express it

Guest instructor and DJ Luke Albao joins us tonight! He started Lindy hopping in 2001 and learned at the Jam Cellar in DC from esteemed dancers such as Skye Humphries and Naomi Uyama.
Tonight we have classes at 6pm (Intermediate) and 7 (Advanced), and a social dance from 8:00 to 10:00. Classes will focus on the classic Lindy Hop move, the Texas Tommy, and variations on it.
This month's classes are not progressive from the previous weeks, so if you missed last week, you are still welcome to join us tonight. Classes are small enough that you get lots of personal attention.
Come enjoy food or drink from our bar and a night of laid back dance tunes in the AC! We've also got a side room where you can bring your favorite board game, your kiddos, or even your laptop and work on the fast WiFi.
It'll be a party!
Check out Rose Room PDX lindy hop classes at Rae Loft on Wednesdays! Intermediate 6-7 and advanced 7-8.
Come on out to Rose Room PDX tomorrow night at Rae Loft!
In both our intermediate and advanced classes, we'll be going over the classic (fancy) lindy hop move, the *Texas Tommy*, along with a lot of fun variations on it. We'll be teaching technique to do this safely so we can enjoy this essential and fun lindy hop move on the social floor.
Intermediate class: 6 - 7pm
Advanced class: 7 - 8pm
DJ'd Dance: 8 - 10pm
Come escape the heat in this beautiful space!
Here's one of our intermediate class recaps so you can get an idea of the sorts of things we teach:
