New Wave Opera
New Wave Opera (NWO) tells fresh, relevant stories by living composers through the medium of opera. Fresh, Relatable, Locally-Sourced, Theatrical.
Our intimate, no-frills productions prioritize theatrical principles and a blackbox aesthetic, proving that a small ensemble of exceptional artists can deliver powerful, immediate storytelling. By centering women and q***r creators onstage and behind the scenes, we champion a more inclusive future for the art form.

All smiles after our fantastic workshop of Deep Water on Friday!
It was so thrilling to hear Caroline Louise Miller's opera come to life with this incredible team of artists! We're excited to get rehearsals underway in May.
As a company that exclusively performs works by living composers, we are dedicated to giving new works time to develop and grow. A workshop is a great way to do this: get the music up on its feet, ask questions, provide feedback, and give the composer a chance to make any changes they see fit before the formal rehearsal process begins.
Mark your calendars for June 18-21 for the world premiere of Deep Water at Portland State University's Boiler Room Theatre.
Thanks to Portland State University School of Music, Regional Arts & Culture Council, City of Portland Arts and Culture, and our donors for making this workshop possible!
