Hey friends! Just an FYI! That although we are moving out of our current (2nd ) location in East Bayside and saying goodbye to the gallery space we’ve carved out of an old taxi garage 24 years ago!!! The good news is that you will still be able to reach us with the same email addresses and same phone number. We will be continuing to make quality custom wood frames with hopefully little disruption! It will be by appointment (meaning just call us to give us the heads up)… with pretty much the same schedule! We’ll be sending out an email soon! Sign up on the form on our website! Still at 222 Anderson for about 3 more weeks!

Katharsis: the second installation of American Grotesque is meant to agitate through repulsion of what is happening in the US now. Work by Christopher Andrew, Kenny Cole, Adriane Herman, Erik Schurink, Michael Torlen help to tell that story through exploring the grotesque and hard to stomach news : banned books, burning efigies, ice as puppets of facism and material excesses the facade of class by an oranged/deranged man with ‘gilt’ frames of foam… come explore saturdays 11-2 Tuesday-Friday 11-5 or by appt/chance… a conversation with the artists will be held late May.

American Grotesque Part 2:
A Kind O’ Katharsis

Opens Friday March 20th. 5-7 PM

American Grotesque: A kind o’ Katharsis…
Try we must…

How do we purge our emotions provoked by political rhetoric defying rhetorical questions? Who are the depersonalized humanoids? Who are the hapless snowpeople? Who bans books? Who pulls the strings? Who wears top hats? Who will create beauty? Who will protect, feed, support fellow man? Who will help Phoenix rise from the ashes?

American Grotesque: A kind o’ Katharsis…
You gotta try…

Let’s practice alchemy, and purge our ire with creativity, so we’ll rise above the book-banner prudes, the white-washers of history, the souless string pullers, the word-of-god weaponizers, the corporate blue-bloods, the schmucks caught in the honey trap. We’ll pull them up from the ashes they have left, and we’ll rise… rise like a Phoenix, each of us humming to one’s own tune, together, to live in harmony… honoring and reenacting due process… because we must.

American Grotesque: A kind o’ Katharsis…
Join in!

Here you are, with me, and all the others, here and not there, each of us a firefly to share our light and beauty to reach a tipping point, for us, a flock of hummingbirds to become the Phoenix, to rise from the ashes… to become a more perfect union… with all and for all.

American Grotesque: A kind o’ Katharsis…
Because we can!

Play music, sing a song, sing out loud, join a choir, sing with the masses in the streets… purge ugliness… Write a letter… to a friend… a poem… for a friend… recite poems to a crowd, for the crowd… write your representative, and do it again… and again… purge ugliness… cook a meal… for yourself, for others, with others, for the protestors… purge ugliness… take a walk, all by yourself, with someone else, with thousands holding up ‘LOVE’ signs…. purge ugliness… read a book, give a book, join a book club, explore morals… discuss, develop and shape big ideas… to surge… from the ashes… one and all… together… WE ARE the RISING PHOENIX!
