It’s going to be a long, hot summer; at least for Portland Metro real estate.

The May 2017 RMLS Market Action Report is out and although summer seems to be coming late this year, the real estate market is going strong! The severe inventory shortage continues. Yes, it was the strongest May for new inventory since 2008, but the market is just as intense as it has ever been because of the backlog of buyers. More listings translated into more opportunities for buyers last month, but with such a quick action market, they still had to act fast to win a home. It continues to be a frenzy market in the more affordable and mid-price ranges with explosive sales, severe inventory shortages, intense competition, and multiple offer situations.

The median home price in the Portland Metro area is now $370,000, up 10.7% from the $334,200 price in May of 2016.

It might be hard to walk away from an accepted offer on a house, especially after being out-bid on several other homes. This article may help keep things in perspective.
