A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our 2026 Haiku Contest. We loved reading every entry and are grateful to all who shared a piece of their experience with us. After collecting votes from our community, we're delighted to share this year's winning haiku:
Sunlight on red brick
Nascent summer in the air
A minute of pause
Congratulations to our winning poet 🖋️ Here’s to two years of hospitality, poetry, and the stories still to come.

To celebrate our second anniversary, we invited guests to capture their Longfellow experience in a haiku.
The response was thoughtful, creative, and inspiring. After much deliberation, we've selected our top 9 favorite haikus, and now we'd love your help choosing a winner.
Read through the finalists and cast your vote. Voting will close on June 12th, and the winning poet will receive a complimentary night's stay at The Longfellow.

Some of the best moments in a stay happen in between the plans, with nowhere to be. Warm water running, and a little extra time to unwind.

The Longfellow turns two today 🤍
Since opening our doors, we’ve been inspired by the guests, neighbors, and all the moments that have brought our spaces to life. To celebrate this milestone, we’re honoring Portland’s literary spirit with our annual Haiku Contest.
Throughout the month of May, hotel guests are invited to submit a haiku inspired by their stay. At the end of the month, we’ll share our finalists and invite you to vote for your favorite.
