I always recommend lots of walking with your partner. Getting time to connect and walk (especially out in nature) can really aide in connection as a couple before baby arrives. It can be fun to bounce hypotheticals off each other “what would you do if baby sneaks out as a teenager?” Or “How can we help each other in times of stress?” (Maybe doing dishes helps one partner, or taking a long uninterrupted shower helps the other partner).

- Improves heart, lung, and blood vessel function.

Why use different words than pain or contractions?

When we use words like pain we picture getting a shot or maybe bumping your knee on a table. When we have negative associations like that our body knows to flinch to protect us. However when you are trying to relax into the sensations of labor thinking of how much pain you‘re experiencing can do more harm than good. Instead of thinking wow this hurts, we try to think “wow this is intense”; or “wow this is a transformational feeling.“

Being in the birth room for your cousin is such a different and wonderful experience compared to a typical client. Seeing the joy and strength in the birthing room was so beautiful. I loved getting to be there for family 🥰❤️
