Today is Global Parent Day. Cheers to all all the parents and the hard work they do. A special shout-out to to the parents I’ve worked with I’ve worked with the past! Capturing your family memories is an honor!

Let’s talk gear! Here’s two of my favorite lenses I use most frequently!
Left: 50mm
Right: 10-18mm
My 50mm is my most trusty lens! I use these guys for portraits and LOTS of landscapes! Slide to see them in action!

to 2020. I spent a lot of time during the summer working on mock shoots. It was a lot of fun working with the model Julianna and others. It’s so rewarding having my work in a magazine!

Happy Friday! Let’s talk about the best time to have a photo session! The time of day is important for lighting. There’s 3 main times of the day that are great for photos.

Morning: In the morning the sun is still low in the sky which allows a softer and golden light. If you get out early enough you may even catch the glimmer of the dew drops!
Afternoon: In the afternoon the sun has had a chance to set a bit. This allows bright but indirect light. This avoids the hash noon sun and dark shadows. This is generally the best time of day to shoot in overcast conditions.
Sunset: Also known as Golden Hour (my personal favorite), sunset is arguably the most magical time of day. The sunset provides a beautiful cast of golden colors that give a soft warm feeling. If you’re lucky enough you may even catch those colors of the sunset!

Editing is my favorite step in the photography progress. The colors and brightness in the photo tell a story or tell you how to feel.

Going for a happy summer vibe? Bright whites and golden yellows give a summertime sunset feeling. Feeling moody? Dark tones give the best moody vibes when paired with hints of a blue tint.

How does this edit make you feel? What story is it telling you?

What should I wear for my photo session? Short answer, wear what you feel your best in! But let’s get technical, here’s a couple of tips.

•Avoid patterns- patterns tend to be busy and distract from what we’re looking at, YOU!
•Light colors- light colors bring a bright airy feel. Light natural colors allow for you and your environment to be the main subjects! Try out a timeless look with a neutral tee and jeans!
•Coordinate- if you are taking group or family photos, coordinating outfits really ties the look together! Try this out by picking out a color pallet you think matches your location. This allows some flexibility in outfits but still feels cohesive.

Use these tips for your next photo session or even your next session. Happy photo taking!
