Customers have been helping by contributing to fund a SNAP meal offer of a Suns Up & Coffee (regular/vegan/vegetarian/GF). Free for SNAP recipients . With so many people negatively affected by the lapse in funding, it’s a beautiful thing seeing so many people come together to fill the gap and keep our community fed!

We welcome everyone to the cafe…right, left, middle, up or down. We also post community events (and political signage) that we want to elevate. Two star reviews hurt a little but not as much as remaining silent. So, love us or hate us, everyone is welcome …until they don’t welcome others. While we hate to see a couple signs keep some people away we’ll never be a perfect place for everyone anyway.

Not for everyone… but definitely a sandwich some people come back for, again and again.

The CEO and co-founder of Ridwell came through Denizens Cafe this morning and we snapped a quick photo. Ryan provided a sticker for Lily’s bread tag drop box that she has at the Cafe. Lily is a Ridwell fanatic, she doesn’t just recycle at home, she’s advocated that everyone around her recycle too. Over the last couple years she has saved an additional 381lbs of recycling from the landfill. It’s a big number when you consider that we’re talking about thousands of bottle caps, bread tags and a variety of other items that cannot be recycled through standard recycling bins.

Behind the scenes: several countries and dozens of sets of hands get this coffee to homes every week!

German cheesy noodle (käsespätzle) and bratwurst lunch special over the weekend. Takes me back our years in Germany! Saturday and Sunday and we’ll see where we take it from there.

Hey folks! Our plan for this heat wave is to stay open while we’re able to keep the heat at bay and close early on days that we heat up too much. We do have AC to help but extreme heat can be too much for the system. As always, you can order food and drinks online for pickup or delivery at denizenscafe.com if we shutter early, we’ll also shutter our online store for the day!

If you ever see a plastic bottle in the beverage case has likely been kidnapped and held for ransom. She refuses….adamantly… to stock drinks in plastic bottles…so, let’s keep an eye on the case, if there is plastic her idealism is starting to slip!
