Apparently, nostalgia is fondness for yesterday’s routine moments.

The drive to work. The walk in the neighborhood. Breakfast at the kitchen island. The every day scents and sounds. The mindless moments that we think we’ll forget about, but rarely ever do.

I’m planning ahead for tomorrow’s nostalgia by finding beauty in the mundane details of life.

This week, let’s elevate the ordinary moments (with flowers whenever possible).

Part 2:

When your client is a floral designer, you know they are paying extra attention to the details. Anca, our sweet hostess, made clay mushrooms (by hand) to add to our whimsical floral situation. The mushrooms, combined with the flowers, moss, and candles, worked perfectly together.

But let me tell you about the install: we knew Jess wanted an installation and explored some ideas, but everything felt “safe.” But when Heather came up with tree and meadow concept, and it was the PERFECT installation fit for a floral princess.

To be honest, the only thing that limited our creative brains was time! So thankful for who made sure to capture all every dainty detail!

I’ve talked with many creatives and have noticed one thing: we’ve all struggled with self-doubt at some point. We’ve all heard the whispers of insecurity and have been held back by all the “what if” questions that it asks. We crave to live and create authentically, to be ourselves. But what if that’s too much?

Creative freedom happens when we fully embrace who we are, and express what we are passionate about through art. It happens when chose to live our private lives, and run our businesses in a way that honors what’s most important to us. Creative joy happens when we work through the insecurities that cause us to imitate, rather than create. Authenticity is what helps us to connect with people who we can enjoy creating with, and for. It’s the secret to happiness, regardless of the creative expression.

Let’s commit to showing up more authentically artists and professionals, shall we?
