Last week we were at running our GM Academy Training. Thanks so much for having me!

During this learning experience we work with young folks to develop foundational facilitation skills to run their own games. To do this we practice strategies to promote collaborative story telling, create inclusive gaming environments, and explore the role of the Game Master.

We dive into the fun with improv activities to warm up while discussing what we need to feel comfortable role playing with new people. Once we build a foundation of knowledge and experience we enter into a role playing game taking turns Facilitating!

I hope I get to work with those young folks again soon!

Returned from a long and fun SnowCon23! I got to run Critical Core for the first time to promote Social Emotional Development through games and met some awesome people doing great things for their communities! I also competed for the Iron GM throne - crafting an epic adventure using Bears, Betrayal and Blossom.

Thanks to everyone who made the weekend happen!

We are back, this time presenting at Maine Reading Round Up

Much of my youth engagement work began with a box of games posted up in a library. It was clear how important the space was for young people to explore their world through stories.

Let's get gaming!

Libraries are such an important aspect of Maine communities, especially the more rural ones. I am excited to share strategies and resources for supporting the development of gamification and game based learning opportunities.

I'm excited to begin my next painting project! Currently, I am fixing my 3D printer so that I can show my (very messy) process from 3D modeling to a painted finished product.

I have never been very crafty or artsy so this journey has been daunting. Failing is a key component of the learning process but I feel like at each step I am not meeting expectations. Much of the way I support others is to reframe what their expectations actually are for a project. For this winter, I am defining success as
1) Spending at least 2 hours a week practicing a different technique
2) Fixing my 3D printer
3) Use a miniature I paint in n IRL game!

👇Drop your tips or tricks for painting miniatures below!

Thank you Maine Recovery Advocacy Project for hosting some important TTRPG adventures!

Games & play are valuable tools to support community organizing, social development and connection.

Supporting recovery and prevention from substance use is an important part of my work! Role Playing Games are incredible tools for learning, community building and developing social emotional skills - especially for those impacted by social issues.

For the month of January I am partnering with the Maine Recovery Advocacy to offer Saturday D&D games.

Here is a sneak peak at our adventure today. The group of young people unraveled a plot to displace towns along the sword coast using environmental hazards. We will be pursuing civic solutions through advocacy and community organizing while leaning more about cooperate corruption.

I am taking the time to read through ! As a white person this book represents more than another Tabletop Role Playing Game. Thank you for sharing your culture, your lives and the worlds you imagine.

One of the strength of this category of games is the ability to explore topics and issues we do not understand. This past year has been an opportunity to examine the ways whiteness showed up in my thoughts behavior, and actions. This beautifully crafted RPG is a learning edge for me as I explore my own short comings as a storytelling, facilitator and educator.

I will be sharing my thoughts and experiences as I navigate my personal growth
