Make Waves
We believe in the power of music education. #EquityInMusicEducation #MusicEducationIsForEveryone
We are delighted and honored to be partnered with Haystack Music Festival for the second year! In their inaugural year, the event raised enough money for us to send one of our young musicians to weekly private lessons for an entire year! Let’s do it again through supporting fantastic local talent and loving community! See you at the Stack! 🎵🌲❤️

Make Waves is collecting and processing redeemable recycling at Waterfront Blues Festival again this year to support free private music education for Portland kids! Interested in volunteering for your wristband? We need your help! Email [email protected], or text (971) 319-5637 to get on the list and pick your shift! 🎵 ❤️ ♻️
Volunteers are encouraged to enjoy the event during their 4-hour shift, while keeping an eye that recycling stations are tidy, and providing information if asked about what Make Waves does in the community. When a bag is full, it is pulled, replaced with a fresh liner, and brought to our sorting station — that’s it!
We will have water, snacks, and PPE for our team. While volunteers are required to be 18+, kids are welcome to hang out with anyone volunteering, though we are unable to provide additional wristbands. There will be several opportunities to log onto a Zoom meeting to learn more ahead of the event! Join us!]

The best part of my role at Make Waves is dropping off instruments for kids to keep as they get ready to start their private lessons. This kit is missing a crash and ride, if anyone has cymbals to donate, please reach out!

We are nearing the launch of our original professional development training series, Wavelengths!
Our Founding Director, Kina Lyn Muir is privileged to have the chance to workshop elements of her curriculum while co-presenting with inimitable musician and advocacy heavyweight Jonathan Chase for the wonderful music educators at our partner school, Ethos this week!
