It’s always nice to get mail from the AKC that says your title is verified and recorded.
This one is one I’m especially proud of.
Cannoli officially has his obedience CD. During his foray into Novice B, he accumulated 3 first places and 2 High In Trials!
I never thought I would ever have a dog capable of one HIT, let alone 2!
Even more meaningfully, he now has performance titles in 3 different venues: obedience, rally, and agility.

Humbly, I think this is just the beginning.
Never let those who doubt you write your story. Never let someone else’s approval, given or withdrawn, dictate the direction of your story.
Embrace every hard climb as an enrichment to each chapter along the way. You are not the sum of your struggles, but the story of how you persevered through them.
And one day, the chapters that nearly broke you will become the pages that inspire someone else to keep going.

Happy birthday to Maple, the matriarch 💗. I’m so grateful she’s in this world and I get to share my life with her.
This is one of my favorite things to train. Scent articles/scent discrimination is such a fun challenge. While the finished exercise eventually looks the same at a trial, there are so many different paths that different trainers take to get there. I’m always curious how other approach scent discrimination. What method did use to train scent articles? Or, if you’ve never trained articles before, what’s something you’ve always wanted to ask about it?
Wins and titles are worth celebrating, but the goal was never to produce ribbon winners. I am most proud that these puppies are deeply loved companions.
Eons ago, showing for the first time in AKC, I had a puppy that was charted for going oversize (sheltie), but I thought I would bring him out to play before he went over. He was gangly, an obvious pet, and couldn’t keep 4 feet on the ground, but his breeder pointed him out to everyone ringside, “isn’t he just darling?” That moment will always stick with me.
As a breeder, are you proud of your “pet” puppies? As a “pet” puppy owner, do you feel like your dog is valued just as much as their show/performance counterparts by your breeder? (“Pet” is in quotations because aren’t all these dogs supposed to be pets first?)
It always saddens me to see that some breeders seem to think ribbons, wins, and titles are the tickets to a brag. Heck, sometimes different achievements are even ranked differently and the accolades have to be “good enough” to be noticed.
Most puppies are meant to become someone’s adventure buddy, couch cuddler, devoted shadow, their heart, and their best friend. And that matters just as much.
The goal should never be just to produce dogs that can win. It should be to produce dogs that people adore living life with. I am so proud of my puppies for being exactly that and it fills my heart whenever I get an update or an anecdote from their families ❤️.

Happy THIRD birthday to these puppies 🥹. I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since they were born. I’m so proud of the dogs they’ve become and the joy and love they’re bringing their families. Getting updates on them is always the highlight of my days and I am incredibly grateful and fortunate that their people stay in touch. Each dog has grown up so beautifully, but today I am in my feelings and reminiscing about when they were little 💕.
Also a happy Mother’s Day to Maple and I am so thankful to her, without whom, these puppies would also not be possible.

During the last month or so, Cannoli debuted in both competition obedience and agility.
He blew me out of the water with his obedience debut, taking High in Trial from Novice B!
This past weekend, we stepped into the agility ring for the very first time. It was -both- of our first time trialing in agility. He showed up for me in a BIG way, and any errors were not his, but mine, as a newbie agility handler and trainer. We ended the weekend with 2 novice fast Qs and 2 novice jumpers Qs, with 3 first places in his class/division (sorry if I got the lingo wrong, I’m still learning 😅).
I am immensely proud of him. And when I say I think the best is yet to come, I truly believe it.

Riot and Shay .shepherd.girls are absolutely on fire! They came home from this long weekend of shows with 4 new titles! They achieved their rally advanced title with 3 perfect scores of 100 and first places. Then, after completing their open fast, jumpers, and standard agility titles, they knocked it out of the park with a lovely excellent standard run for their first excellent Q!
