Romans 7 is a continuation of Romans 6 with our brother Paul looking at the relationship between law and sin. I will begin with- What a wretched man I am. Paul gets really personal in verses 14-23. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. This should be a cry from the heart of every Christian who actively seeks to obey God....

There are many ideas behind why Jesus died on the cross and what it means. Some of the ideas are ransom, redemption, propitiation, substitution, and Jesus as moral example. Let’s take a look at what these words mean? The first one is ransom. Mark 10:45 says For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many....

GOOD FRIDAY-
Matthew 27:45-46: From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli Eli, lema sabachthani?” (Which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).
The darkness was a sign of God’s displeasure (Amos 8:9). This was an extraordinary cry by Jesus in the darkness. It shows the depth of his suffering as he gave his life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). This is the only time Jesus did not address God as Father indicating for a time even the intimate relationship of Father and Son had been broken.
Take a few minutes to ponder Jesus’s death and what he did for us and all creation. He shed his blood and died on a cross for us. His suffering was the most extreme. This breaks my heart into a million pieces. I am forever grateful to you Jesus and thank you continuously. I am sorry for my sins.

Romans 6:15-23- what then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey- whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance....

Romans 6:1-14- What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life....

Romans 5:12-21: Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned… Again, our bother Paul is telling us that all sin and all die. We are all sinners. Our sentence is death. Let us now look at what he means when he says one man in the verse above....
